Let's put everything into proper perspective here. You are light years away from a K-1. A K-1 should be the farthest thing from your mind at this point. You haven't made a single trip nor met a woman. When you do have the need for a K-1 there is loads of information available to you. No you don't "need" a lawyer but, some people think it helps. For some folks it probably does. If you can do your taxes and you can follow instructions explicit and implied, you can do your own K-1. Lawyers can complicate K-1 as much as help.

Take my advice and focus on familiarizing yourself with some women and making a trip to meet them. Then plan on making quite a few trips afterward. When you have found a woman that you are sure is the woman you want to marry then seek the K-1 information.
