What does this mean for us...if true? Odessa, Nikolaev possibly in the cross hairs.

It means your chances to die have increased if you choose to visit Ukraine. Since Russia took Crimea, they've moved troops near the border of Ukraine. They put nukes and their best military equipment in Crimea. Could be saber rattling. I've concluded Putin has taken the slow path in reclaiming Ukraine. Destabilize Ukraine by prolonging the skirmishes. Scare people from investing in Ukraine. The current Ukrainian president can't accomplish much under these conditions. He may not win the next election. That's the time Russia can try and get another puppet president in. Got to polish the guy's image of course. I have a feeling Manafort will be looking for a job by the time the next Ukrainian elections roll around.

If you find a high quality woman there, visit her. I usually recommend visiting a woman in her hometown but maybe you can ask the lady to meet you in Kiev. If Russia invades, I doubt they will kill you or take you hostage. Russia doesn't want to risk dragging in Western powers into a war. Unfortunately those mortar rounds they rain down on people will not ask you for identification before exploding.

I wonder if the ladies are getting nervous. I am seeing more interest and that too from women in their 20s and that is too much. I can't blame them. I had seen pics of war in Donetsk area and many are heart wrenching to look at. What are we doing? Can't we supply arms to Ukraine?

We (the West) are doing nothing of any value and have not done so since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.

Weak leadership from the US, NATO, (presently) Canada and the EU have all but thrown Ukraine to the wolves at this juncture.

Throw in the Frumpy Frau running interference for Putin and Russia and Ukraine is doomed if things don't change.

If there is a full scale incursion I would advocate that Ukraine citizens start a refugee stream straight to Germany through Europe and insist on exactly the same access, comfort and relief as well as immigration allowances the Syrians have so far enjoyed.

As a Canadian I would immediately petition the flower child for an immediate influx of at least 25,000 Ukraine refugees with the same benefits and fast tracking we have allowed the Syrians.

I would further advocate that should the Russians further incur on any NATO or EU countries that Canada not contribute to their defense as not one of these organizations lifted a finger in defense of Ukraine when the time was right (two years ago) and have basically turned their backs since.

Well unfortunately we have a bleeping idiot (my opinion, yours may vary) in the White house who likes bowing down to the Saudis. Not having backbone against the brutes only encourages more aggression.

I wonder if the russians do invade what they would actually do to the citizen especially the women. We know what they did to the german women at the end of the world war. May be that was a bit extreme considering what the Nazis did to russia.

I told Ochka that we should take at least 10 UW refugees into our home and that I would pick them.

Her counter was that we should take 10 UM refugees and she would pick them.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

It's not because of the possibility of war.  It is because of economic stagnation/collapse, which is caused by Ukrainian corruption.

Muzh linked an article here - http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=21099.msg438903#msg438903

which explains the situation very well.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

Can't we supply arms to Ukraine?

Obama showed he is a leader of the free world supporting the Libyans and Syrians in their fight for freedom by giving them arms and military support. He showed he was a man of integrity for people who desired freedom. But the Russians got involved in Ukraine and Syria and when the going gets tough, cowards go running and Obama showed who he really is. Obama will give Ukraine food and training but no offensive weapons that will enable them to reclaim their land. The rebels we backed and trained in Syria got slaughtered by Iranians and Russians. Who wants America's support now?

Sometimes policy is talked about in emails. Russia most likely knew Obama wasn't going to militarily confront them if they entered into Ukraine and Syria so Russia took the free ride to go card.

Or none, on the basis that they should help themselves.  ;)

There are a significant number of Donbas refugees in my city. I met a lot last year. They were to be here temporarily. There were a lot here during the Balkan war as well, and most of them returned when the war ended.
