Michelangelo: The Short Good Bye
« on: July 03, 2006, 10:55:21 AM »
Been Nice Knowing You

I'm packing my bags.  And wrapping things up here...

I have my non-stop ticket from JFK to Kiev, on Delta, thankfully.

I'm paying bills in advance and getting someone to look after my home.

I've canceled a half-dozen gigs.

I finished my final trip report, City of Light, City of Love.  And it's time for the wrap here at RWD.

I'm moving to Ukraine to live with my fiancee for awhile.  And I don't want to slight her, spending time on the computer.  Instead, I want to immerse my self in Urkanian culture and learn more of the Russian langauge.  I want to show her my respect for her culture, before she is emmersed in my culture in the USA at some time in the future.

I discovered RWD on 26 Jan, 2005.  Since then, I have made more that 1000 posts. My membership numbers is one of the lowest (Dan signed on 22 Jan), so I have been here from the onset.  Given this history, I want to share a few things before I take off for a few months or a few years.

As I leave, I want to thank all of those who have helped me along my journey.  Yes, I wound up with the best girl for me.  But I had to get through some pretty good girls, and pretty bad girls, to get to this point.  Some of the warnings from RWD members cast enough doubts on even some of the good ones, that I kept looking.  That is, until I was totally satisfied.

I had a mental list of names of people at RWD I wanted to thank.  But the list was more than a page long, and in the fear I would leave someone significant out, I'll just say you know who you are, and THANKS.  Thanks for your PMs, your phone calls, and your posts.   They were a big help to me.

I'll place my email address on my profile here.  If you're in Ukraine, let me know.  Maybe I can answer some questions.  Maybe we can have a beer. That would be great.

The board has grown a lot, and is at its strongest point.  We have lots of new posters with lots of experiences who are making the switch to RWD.  Their advice will be invaluable to newcomers.

Thanks to all the married guys who keep posting and helping others out.  And to you guys in the hunt, good luck!

Hello Michaelangelo,

I want to wish you the best.  By the way you and I both signed up the same day, the 26th of January 2005, so we sort of tie on being early members.

What day are you flying to Kiev, just out of curiosity.  I am asking because I will be on the same non stop flight from JFK to Kiev on Friday.  I am guessing your flight is sooner since I am not even going to think about packing until Thursday night or later.

I would be happy to buy you a beer in Kiev but since jb accused you, me and PeeWee of being gay it is probably better not to give him anything to talk about.  :kissing:

Glad to hear you are moving there for a while.  I think that is a good move and I wish you the best.  I have always enjoyed your posts and your level headed reasoning.   You have been a real asset to RWD.  Just remember they do have interent there so pop in once in a while.

Thanks, Ken.  But I'm addicted to RWD!  I sign on and read everthing and then start posting--and an hour has gone by!  I think I will go cold turkey for a while so I can give all my attention to Vik :-)

Thanks for you good wishes.  I have enjoyed your balanced posts and most of all, your sense of humor.  Poka

Thanks, Bruno!  I may just stay there from now on...who knows?

Thanks, Richard!  I have a serious ex girlfriend in Tver, and my fiancee Vik DOES NOT LIKE ex girlfriends!  So I guess I will have to catch you in Ukraine :-)

Thanks, Will!  I'm glad you joined the board.  You have so much to add and bring some refreshing newness to the forum.

Thanks, Turbo!  Actually, i have a week more to go.  But since I'm gong indefinately, packing is more difficult than on one of the 2 week trips.  Well, I moved from being a sex tourist to a homo in 10 minutes Friday night.  Neither is true, so I think we are safe having a drink in Ukraine.  How about if Vik brings a friend to meet you?  Or maybe 2 or 3?  Ha!

Thanks, Jack!  What dates will you be in Ukraine? And what cities?  I'll be splitting time between Kiev, Denpr and the black sea...

Thanks, BC!  I hope my future wife is more like AJ's or Kens and that the good times continue :-)   I'm totally confident that she is.

Ha!  Actually, I'm not taking much because I expect to return someday with my fiancee--and I can predict--she'll need most of our baggage poundage  :)  Packing is taking more time cuz I am cleaning closets and getting the house "ready" for a woman coming :-)  So it's really making a big pile for Goodwill charities, and a few select clothes to take with me.  Thanks for the best wishes, Vaughn, and for your insightful posts here at RWD.

Thanks, Billy!  I'll take lots of pictures and notes and will share when I return someday.  By the way, my girl is thrilled I'm moving to Ukraine.  She has a lot of nationalistic pride, and my coming is affirmation to her that I'm a good guy.

George--thanks for your well-wishes!  And I wish you the best in your meeting with your girl in Mexico.  Be sure to buy her a Corona beer--and a coca cola, of course  :)

A trip that long and when you do your trip report Dan may have to increase the storage capability of the web site.

Hey Michalangelo, live like they do there and wear the same clothes every day.   You can pack in 5 minutes.  I think you will have quite a trip.

I will pm you my phone number in Kiev when I have it.  If you feel like having a beer, give me a call.  Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before evening I should be around Kiev and have some free time.   Friday night I fly out to Odessa, from Odessa to Moscow, from Moscow to Novisbirsk, from there to Rostov and back to Kiev just long enough to sleep, shower and catch my Delta flight back.

If Vic has a friend or two or three that will be fine.  I hope I have my own friend there but who knows for sure.  I have one gal I am going to see there that I have met and I that I am working on plans to meet for the first time.  Right now I have no plans during that time I mentioned except to try and meet my new friends sometime in there.

I wish you luck on your adventure.   Don't forget when you are cleaning out the closets to get rid of the photos of other gals.

So when are you going to go to Odessa engaged?  I will be flying down there myself on the 14th.  If I keep trying I will find someone to talk to on one of these planes.   But then again jb hasn't called you gay, at least not yet.

Is it wise to give up all interests to devote 100% of your time to a person? Even reading a book quietly in the same room, or her doing her nails while you're posting on the forums. I know that I couldn't devote constant attention to another person, and I'd go crazy if someone were devoting 100% of thier attention to me.

I guess I will be stuck on my flights with only people who speak Russian.  Most likely have to sit between a beautiful blond and a georgeous brunette, both of whom are single.

If you had been on the flight I was going to suggest you go tell jb something nasty so he would put you in the club with Mike and PeeWee and me.

At least it is nice to know someone coming after me so if I get into a drunken brawl and need bailed out of jail, I have a starting point.  Have a nice time in Odessa.
