OK... so... ummmm.... if I read the wikipedia article properly I need to make sure I get a power adapter that is unique for FSU because FSU plugs WILL fit into German sockets but German plugs WON'T fit into FSU sockets???

Of course I'm coming from Oz so I'll need the adapter in both Germany and Ukraine.

Turbo is correct.  And likely you will not need a power adapter, cuz just about anything electronic device made today, from computer to cell phone to hair dryer, accepts 110 to 240 power.   All I carry is the plug that transfers the head so it will "plug" in.

One other note. If you should need a small adapter to convert 220 down to 110, the pins on these things are fine but the size of the adapter prevent the pins from fully engaging the wall socket. The holes are recessed in a small circular opening.  The small plastic adapters that everyone is referring to are smaller, so I had to put one of these adapters on my converter. Works very well.

I don't mean to start another WalMart Controversy but they do sell a converter with a slide switch from low voltage to high voltage with  4 or 5 adaptors for about $ 12.00.   I have one and it seems to work great.

TG, think you meant the converter will switch to handle low and high wattage, not voltage. $12 is a good deal at Wallmart or you can pay $20 for the same converter at another store.

I can't believe that anyone would plug 110v appliances into 220v regardless of the wattage without a converter and not expect smoke.

I/O, I plugged a clock, not rated for the same voltage, into a socket whether it be higher or lower voltage to experiment if the clock will work, not to see if smoke will appear or not. The clock did work for 10 minutes. It took Thomas Edison 10,000 attempts to create the light bulb. He probably created smoke and small expolsions but that was clearly not his intention but to make a light bulb work under various conditions. http://www.paniccure.com/Short_Essays/What_is_success.htm

just about anything electronic device made today, from computer to cell phone to hair dryer, accepts 110 to 240 power.

Trust, but verify the electronical info on the product. Note my clock experiment. Many products today has a built in converter for 110-240 but that is done only for ease of manufacturing making one product for all countries instead of having to customize the product for multiple countries.
Fund the audits, spread the word and educate people, write your politicians and other elected officials. Stay active in the fight to save our country. Over 220 generals and admirals say we are in a fight for our survival like no other time since 1776.

BillyB, my Mac acutally comes with a head that comes off and with heads for 6 diferent countries.  Makes it really easy.  Plus, on higher end electronics, including the Mac and the Sony/Erikson cell, the built in converter is high end--better than the $20 ones you can buy.

Yes, I did not mean Voltage.  The voltage is going to stay 220 in and 110 out or it will fry more than a clock in no time.
