Trump, Russia and China - What does it mean for your search?

A pattern is slowly becoming apparent in the actions of Donald Trump, President-elect of the United States.  The pattern includes the anticipated nomination of the Secretary of State and the ongoing rejection and or non-recognition of the One China policy. 

The Secretary of State position is one more indicator that Trump would like to curry favor with Russia.  The anticipated nominee has received the highest non-citizen honor that Russia can bestow.  He has a direct and favorable relationship with V. V. Putin and is experienced in successful negotiations with the Russians.

Contrasting relations with the Russians, Trump is going out of his way to signal to the Chinese that he will no longer agree to a recognition of the China’s requirement that to do business with the United States, the United States must recognize that Taiwan is a part of China.

This strategy is simply an odd man out ploy by Trump.  Trump buddies up with Putin, China is left out in the cold. 

What does this mean for foreign relations with Europe?  With Ukraine?   It is too early to put the proper spin on how this all works out.  One thing I have seen about Trump.  He works on one thing at a time.  He does not analyze things as a whole.  I believe that this attack on China is his one foreign policy initiative right now and he marginalizes all other foreign policy options in the faces of this strategy. 
I should also point out that Trump’s position on Russian hacking and influencing the US Presidential election would evoke exactly the response we have seen.  It would also agree with responses that other Trump supporters have made.  My posting of Rohrabacher’s comments last week on Russian human rights violations:  There are none….. it tells you that either he is choosing his team based on former pro-Russian statements or there is already a game plan in action – and people are all playing the game based on how they understand the rules.

As for Russian brides – well, expect a thaw towards US relations with Russia.  Americans will no longer be the bad guys – which will help in securing a bride.

I think that POTUS and SoS, will work a deal wherein Putin agrees to disengage from Eastern Ukraine.  Putin is likely really wanting to do this now, but needs a face saving procedure.

In turn, POTUS and SoS will pressure Europe to lift sanctions on Russia, which many in Europe want to do anyway.

However, this will still leave Ukraine the loser in three  regards:
1) Crimea is lost forever.
2) The cost of rebuilding Eastern Ukraine will cripple Ukraine for 50 years, even as they will get a lot of help from the West.
3) There will still be a large percentage (perhaps a majority) of persons living in Eastern Ukraine who will be committed to destabilizing all of Ukraine.

China needs the US more than we need them.  Don't worry about China over the next 5 years.

As far as Russia, I have no idea what the murderous thug Putin will do.  He found it easy to get his way when Obama was President, and in the past 8 years Russia has enhanced its sense of self-importance, e.g. replaced the US as the largest military power in the Middle East.    Is that enough for Putin?

Putin doesn't need to save face if he retreats from Eastern Ukraine because he says he didn't send Russian troops there. That's the story and he's sticking with it.

Putin wants Ukraine to join the West as much as Kennedy wanted the USSR to put nukes in Cuba.

The only way to get Putin out of Ukraine is flex serious military muscle.
