The Berkeley rioters, unlike the fascists in Germany in 1933, do not control the state.

Well, they're sure trying to.

Some Syrian immigrants in America seem to be more understanding about Trump's immigration ban than many American born citizens

That is the wrong interpretation.

The ruling says that those with valid visas cannot be stopped.
But, Trump's original EO cancelled all existing visas re the target countries.  That was not addressed in the ruling.

So the ruling only will apply to those who obtain a new visa.
But USCIS likely won't issue new visas.

Thus, the ruling will actually have no effect.

The above is what I understand from listening to the 'experts' who were interviewed on the news shows.

More on this which 'invalidates' what I wrote above.

Seems our Homeland Security group 'reinstated' the visas that had been cancelled earlier . . . except for those that have a cancellation stamp on them.

So many can now come into USA.  But they had better hurry.

Trump and his people will (or maybe already have) filed to move this on to the next level in our court system to have the Seattle judges order overturned . . . or at least held in abeyance for awhile.

Trump and his people will (or maybe already have) filed to move this on to the next level in our court system to have the Seattle judges order overturned . . . or at least held in abeyance for awhile.

The Seattle judge said for Trump's order to be constitutional, it has to be based on fact, not fiction. I watched a video of him asking the Justice dept attorney if there were any attacks by persons from the banned countries since 9/11. She said she didn't know and he replied there was none. The Justice Dept. attorney look ill prepared for court.

Trump may take it to the next level court but the judge who made this ruling is conservative and appointed by Bush. Before his appointment, he donated to the GOP. Even if the next level is heavily conservative, Trump probably will lose. Certainly liberal judges won't side with him.  Trump should've initiated better vetting at the State Dept. level on those nations or asked Congress to get involved instead of making an executive order that disrupts decent people's lives way more than getting rid of terrorists.

Trump later said that anyone with bad intentions can now come into America due to the judges ruling. Trump is making a false statement or is ignorant. We still have and always had a vetting process in place to keep the bad guys out.

As it is, even the last two weeks had proven just as difficult. Any change to bring normality within our society again will be an uphill climb but hopeful soon we can make America great again.

At the minute your President is making America GRATE .. on our nerves....  with his loonie pronouncements on folks WE thought good enough to be citizens ...good enough to have valid travel docs for your nation ..

What about those non-USA residents who have just simply waltzed across the southern border
 and have remained absolutely unchallenged?
Is there no limit?
The executive orders are unclear to me.
Are those who have legitimate USA visas or residence cards being denied entry?
I blame this whole mess on not only the previous 4 presidents but even more on the spineless congresses who accompanied them.

Regarding immigration, I have never had problems when crossing back in the USA, nor has my wife.  Apparently things are changing and immigration is being a bit belligerent with green card holders and even American citizens.  This is according to a couple of her friends that have had some minor run in's this week.   Although we have a scheduled trip at a point later this year, she is having reservations about her return, as she feels there is no guarantee she will be readmitted after a couple summer months outside the US.  This is how the reporting is going in Colombia.  I can't really say the truth of it all just yet.
I'm glad Trump has been slapped around a bit on the issue, hopefully it puts the brakes on him attempting to make the 'ban list' longer or for a longer period of time.  People seemed have been getting screened all these years, I'm still thinking the ban wasn't necessary.

In Canada right now btw. Very different feeling than where I live in the US. Abnormally friendly people, nobody even locks their front doors. Our ski instructor is a Chinese immigrant. Was very interesting to hear his views on US politics and view son local and US immigration.

Two national survey results concluded that the majority of Americans yields support for Trump’s ban.

Zogby Analytic and Reuters/ipsos poll.

CNN, OTOH, and predictably so, reports the contrary. LMAO.

The federal judge, a Washington (blue state) judge, have no constitutional power to override presidential US Rule code. The suit is just another liberal/political obstruction move. The judge practiced immigration pro-bono cases in the past.

An aside: Just as it was in last November’s presidential election, you knew the NE *Patriots* will ride the victory parade despite being *behind* almost the entire time yesterday!

Huge congrats to Kraft, Belichik, and Tom Brady! All strong supporters of the POTUS!

Overlooked in Donald Trump’s campaign crusade against illegal immigration was his vow to crack down on legal immigration, too.

Now, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), a reliable Trump ally, is taking steps to execute that part of the president’s immigration vision.

Cotton’s new legislation, being formally proposed Tuesday with Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) and detailed exclusively with POLITICO in advance of its release, swings an axe at the nation’s green-card system by eliminating several avenues for U.S. citizens and permanent residents to sponsor family members for green cards.

Right now, U.S. citizens and permanent residents can sponsor a variety of family members, including spouses, parents, siblings and married adult children. Cotton and Perdue’s plan would allow only spouses and unmarried minor children to get green cards, although they would permit visas for aging adult parents whose American children are their caretakers — a population Cotton expects will be modest.

The core component of this yet-to-be-submitted measure is to 'cut' the legal migration from a yearly admission rate of 1,000,000 to half. It also proposes to do away with the diversity visa lottery.

Aging parents are included in this 'wash', unless they are sick. Applicants will be mandated to be fully responsible for their welfare in return for admission. There will be no social assistance extended in these cases.

The two senators are the architects behind this measure, not the Trump administration. Although it is being forward under Trump's campaign of immigration reform program for Congressional lobbying. It will likely face a very tough battle in Congress.

The intent behind this measure is to lessen the burden of cheap labor, and to provide more access to available jobs for American citizens. It is also, in part, to cut/crackdown on social assistance, via 'complacency/dependence' and/or fraud.

Although I don't think we should cut immigration as a whole, I'd be ok with keeping the elderly in their home countries.  It isn't our duty to bring people here that are likely to be sick in the near future, and create an additional burden on our healthcare system.  We can't take care of everybody, so we can start with the people already here.

You are mistaken, which isn't  uncommon.  I've never been for immigrating the elderly here wholesale.  We need people that are going to be productive to our society, hard workers...the elderly were productive in their home countries presumably, so now in their later years their countries can take care of them.    I don't know if I have any political heroes, and certainly don't tailor my opinion to any individuals in particular.

Trump blames law enforcement for the immigration ban being implemented quickly. Trump wanted to delay it a month. First Obama's list was to blame and now law enforcement. The buck stops with Trump.

Supreme Court nominee not happy the way Trump attacks the courts. Gorshuch has faith courts can remain independent from politics when making decisions. Is Trump going to attack courts every time he doesn't get his way for the next 4 years?
