~There is no one more blind than those who refuse to see and none more deaf as those who will not listen~
~Think about the intelligence of the average person and then realize that half of the people are even more stupid than that~

Actually the commercial liner itself fired the missile at Russian patriots.

However the missile malfunctioned, circled around and came back at the plane.

Buy the way . . . just this afternoon I watched (Ochka was busy with course preparations) the old (1957) movie "The Enemy Below" with Robert Mitchum (USA Destroyer) and Kurt Curt Jürgens (German U-Boat).

Sort of dragy at the beginning but turned into a very interesting film featuring the cat and mouse chess game between the two clever captains.

I had seen it probably 30 years ago, but as a youngster likely  didn't appreciate it as much as I did today.

I highly recommend it.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.

For real WWII submarine experiences (in the Pacific), I'd recommend two excellent books by Richard H. O'Kane (former USN Rear Admiral, Medal of Honor):

The War Patrols of the U.S.S. Tang - The Patrols of America's Most Famous World War II Submarine
Milan's "Duomo"
