What’s Up in DumbPhuqistan?
« on: February 20, 2017, 05:07:01 PM »
Welcome to the latest bulletin of "Chto Novogo - DumbPhuqistan"

After a string of six successive bankruptcies, one of the most intriguing puzzles about Donald Trump’s long, turbulent business career: how he managed to keep financing it, despite a dismal track record of failed projects.

According to the “official story,” this was simply due to a combination of brilliant deal-making, Trump’s gold-plated brand and with $916 million of creative tax dodging as a kicker. But this official story is hokum meant for the masses of  DumbPhuqistan. The truth is, that since the late 1990s, Trump was greatly assisted by new sources of finance from Russia!  These outflows arrived at just the right time to fund several of Trump’s post-2000 high-risk real estate and casino ventures—most of which failed. As Donald Trump, Jr., executive vice president of development and acquisitions for the Trump Organization, told the “Bridging U.S. and Emerging Markets Real Estate” conference in Manhattan in September 2008 (on the basis, he said, of his own “half dozen trips to Russia in 18 months”). “In terms of high-end product influx into the United States, Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets; say in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.” said Trump Jr nearly 10 years ago!!

A lot of Russian money needed “somewhere to go outside of Russia”.  In 1994–96, under the infamous “loans-for-shares” program, Russia privatized 150 state-owned companies for just $12 billion, most of which was loaned to a handful of well-connected buyers by the state. The principal beneficiaries of this “privatization”—actually, cartelization—were initially just 25 or so budding oligarchs with the insider connections to buy these properties and the muscle to hold them.

For example, Russia’s 1992 “voucher privatization” program permitted a tiny elite of former state-owned company managers and party apparatchiks to acquire control over a vast number of public enterprises, often with the help of outright mobsters. A majority of Gazprom, the state energy company that controlled a third of the world’s gas reserves, was sold for $230 million; Russia’s entire national electric grid was privatized for $630 million; ZIL, Russia’s largest auto company, went for about $4 million; ports, ships, oil, iron and steel, aluminum, much of the high-tech arms and airlines industries, the world’s largest diamond mines, and most of Russia’s banking system also went for a song.  Of course, “average Russian people” were never allowed anywhere near the bidding table, that’s not “how it works”, either in Russia or the US.  No, something else was “set aside for them”!

For the vast majority of ordinary Russian citizens, this extreme re-concentration of wealth coincided with nothing less than a full-scale 1930s-type depression, a “shock therapy”-induced rise in domestic price levels that wiped out the private savings of millions, rampant lawlessness, a public health crisis, and a sharp decline in life expectancy and birth rates.

Maybe, maybe, this pattern might be repeated somewhere else in the near future?

Am familiar with the Bayrock deals.  My understanding is that the Trumps were two levels removed from the actual investments.  The lawsuit you included bears that out.  Or didn't you read it?

LMAO! The pshyt just keeps on coming. 4 months after the election, the crib still needs rocking. Will someone please give the babies their bottles!

Let’s see now, between 16 Republicans, the Democratic and Republican SuperPacs, CNN/ABC/NBC/CBS/MSNBC/NYT/WP’s army of *investigative journalists*, Odufus aka 44th, Hillary’s minions, the IC, Comey and the ancient Socialist were all stupid enough to not uncover such a compelling Trump’s connection to Russian laundering for nearly 2 years?!?

But you did by surfing the internet and provide links from, well, credible sources…? Damn! That’s impressive! JayH would be proud!

Dammit jone! I wanted to ignore it for now and let this fester for a while!

Hey Jone
“My understanding is that the Trumps were two levels removed from the actual investments.”

FALSE!

How would that even be possible for Trump to be “two levels removed from the actual investments”?  As of 2007, Bayrock and its partners reportedly had more than $2 billion of Trump-branded deals in the works.   Their main property was the 46-story Trump SoHo condo-hotel on Spring Street in New York City.

In November 2011, buyers at the Bayrock Group and Trump Organization’s Trump Soho sued the developers (including Trump), claiming they were tricked into buying apartments through false sales updates. In June 2008, for example, Ivanka Trump told Reuters that 60 percent of units had been sold. In fact, only 15 to 30 percent of units had been sold by early 2009, according to a New York Times report. The developers agreed to settle and refund 90 percent of buyers their deposits.

The building was foreclosed by creditors and resold in 2014 after more than $3 million of customer down payments had to be refunded. Similarly, Bayrock’s Trump International Hotel & Tower in Fort Lauderdale was foreclosed and resold in 2012. Trump hooked up with Bayrock rather quickly in 2005, becoming an 18 percent minority equity partner in the Trump SoHo, and agreeing to license his brand and manage the building.  According to the Federal government, the 3 owners of Bayrock’s illegal activities include money laundering, bribery, and racketeering.

Now Trump claims that he didn’t know about these things, but he also claimed to have a record inauguration crowd.  These claims have since become known as “alternative facts”.
In 1998, one of Bayrock’ partners, “Sater” had pled guilty to stock racketeering and fraud as part of a US and Russian mafia-connected $40 million stock pump and dump scheme, a $19.95 internet background check would have revealed this information to Trump

Indifference about due diligence with respect to potential partners and associates is one of Donald Trump’s more predictable qualities.  Trump cared more about the money then who he was dealing with or where the money came from, and claiming ignorance about his partners identities and activities is certainly convenient when it all collapses.

Remember when Sara “I can see Russia” Palin criticized Obama for “palling around with terrorists”  Who has Trump been “palling around with”?  Why is that not an issue?  Oh, because he’s a Republican!  Of course...

Ahh, I thought you were trying to get the Russians involved with this case.  Now I see.  Well, you're too damn late.  I was already bringing Trump's sour business deals to the forefront before the election when I said I wouldn't vote for him.  (Wouldn't vote for Hillary, either.) But, now that he's President, and there is no recourse, I would like to see his policies in place.    Same gracious attitude I gave to Obama - for the first 100 days.  Or are you Jay, Jr. and want to impeach him in the first month.

As for me and your derogatory statements to anyone who voted for Trump, well, you can cry all you want.  He's President for the next four years.  So if there is any sucking to do, its all on you, baby.  You're just another Lib who can't believe that you're out of power and no ability to fight back.

me a lib?

“liberal” type the word in Google, and look what pops back!

“open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values”.
concerned mainly with broadening a person's general knowledge and experience

so if you want to label me with this, I’m absolutely OK with having these qualities!
you on the other hand wouldn’t know your ass from a hole in the ground even if you had chronic  diarrhea and a complete absence of toilette paper

oh gosh!  you caught a typo!  happens often when you type 70+ WPM after a hard days work, you must be so damned proud of your accomplishment, your highlight of the week no doubt

the only conjugating I do, is frankly between me and the mizzus and none of your bizness (look I mis-spelled! ohhhhhhhhh!!!)

Krimster,

You and I are not real estate magnates.  Debt is not a bad word in the real estate development business.  If you are like almost all Americans who own a house, you borrowed money to buy your home, and quite possibly the loan accounts for most of the debt on your personal balance sheet.

Is it illegal for a real estate developer to obtain financing from international sources?  Russian sources?

Not my fault your own silly citation already stated what I posted above. Maybe next time you present another conspiracy theory, you could at least  make sure there isn't anything that discriminates what your trying to convey.

“There is no evidence Trump took any part in, or knew of, their racketeering”.

That, in my opinion would even be WORSE than if he knew, it means the concept of basic due diligence is never applied in his business (just get the money and don’t worry about the details) when I rent out a house, I get a background check on my prospective tenant, and this is a $2,000/mo deal, why didn’t Trump do that for his tens of millions deal?  is he such an idiot, or is he lying?  take your pick which one is it?

Gator,
if the money is coming from "Russian sources", it's guaranteed to be dirty money that needs laundering, that's the service that Trump was providing for a fee...
Illegal, possibly, immoral, certainly...
BUT, he's a Republican, so what the heck, right?

I think ole' Krimster is off his feed.  Have seen this with a couple of my friends of the more liberal political philosophy.  They're going along okay, then, all of a sudden, BOOM!  They fall off the wagon and hit their head and then everyone around them is the enimee. (Spelled that poorly, just for you, buddy.) It is quite possibel that you just nead to get this out of your cystem.  If so, we're hear to help.

Look.  President Trump is the one who is calling the shots for the Federal Government.  He's got three years and 11 months more to do it.  I highly doubt that you and your $2000 a month tenant (congrats on your rental - I think) are going to impact his Presidency.

So, rather than call people names, go do some conjugatin.  Conjugate for me tonight.  Conjugate when you wake up early tomorrow morning.  And tomorrow, during the middle of the day, conjugate again.  Verbs, after all, can be tricky things.  Even nouns and pronouns and direct objects.  If you know what I mean.

Yep, you're right. Anyone who deals with Russians has to be doing something illegal and immoral!

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2016/08/01/hillary-clinton-sure-has-a-lot-of-ties-to-the-russians-n2200650

Following his 2009 visit to Moscow, President Obama announced the creation of the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission. Mrs. Clinton as secretary of state directed the American side, and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov represented the Russians.  Mrs. Clinton’s State Department worked aggressively to attract U.S. investment partners and helped the Russian State Investment Fund, Rusnano, identify American tech companies worthy of Russian investment. Rusnano, which a scientific adviser to President Vladimir Putin called “Putin’s child,” was created in 2007 and relies entirely on Russian state funding. Soon, dozens of U.S. tech firms, including top Clinton Foundation donors like Google, Intel and Cisco, made major financial contributions to Skolkovo, with Cisco committing a cool $1 billion. In May 2010, the State Department facilitated a Moscow visit by 22 of the biggest names in U.S. venture capital—and weeks later the first memorandums of understanding were signed by Skolkovo and American companies.Ah yes, that whole pay to play thing and big Clinton donors coincidentally benefiting from diplomatic deals and agreements brokered by Hillary Clinton herself.

I know Skolkovo and I wrote about it here in the past, a failure that sits mostly empty and mired in the usual Russian corruption.  As someone who once owned a software development company in Crimea, I was once interested in Skolkovo, but no one in my company, myself included wanted to relocate there.  I see no reason back then why the US Sec of State wouldn’t want to help co-operation between US/European and Russian companies, remember the famous “Reset Button” fiasco, this is the time period you’re talking about.  It’s her job actually, to do this kind of cooperation and promotion, different time period, pre-Crimea, different now, ok??

Welcome to the latest bulletin of "Chto Novogo - DumbPhuqistan"

After a string of six successive bankruptcies, one of the most intriguing puzzles about Donald Trump’s long, turbulent business career: how he managed to keep financing it, despite a dismal track record of failed projects.

http://www.the-american-interest.com/2016/12/19/the-curious-world-of-donald-trumps-private-russian-connections/

I posted this link somewhere on forum in the last few weeks

For those that are truly interested-- read it.  At the very least it puts into question the Trump links to Russia -- and his general competence.

I note again the cavalcade of derision from Trumpateers  -- and my guess is none of them read a word of the links !
