Jay,

You should probably know that no one I know reads the links that you put on the forum.  If they do, they don't respond to them.  There is a reason for this.  You post too much and ramble from thread to thread, putting up links but no original discourse.  You would get much more traction by posting less and referencing links only by their URL.

I know that you know how to actually post conversation.  Why don't you try it for a couple of weeks rather than putting up articles that no one reads?

I am one such individual.  My city, in Southern California, was targeted by Trump in the purchase of his golf course here.  He used a battering ram of attorneys and took this city to financial distress only so he could force the inclusion of his driving range and other features his team felt necessary to burden the property owners with.   His business dealings were unethical but legal.  For this reason, I stated, before the election, that I could not, nor would not, vote for him.

However, things that are needed by this country, he is doing.  The focus on jobs rather than on increasing the minimum wage (which was Hillary's platform) is helping middle America, where I'm originally from.  The idea that we can have secure borders rather than open ones (such as happened in the Obama administration) appeals to me.   And the idea of reducing the size of our government and the intrusion of the regulatory burden is something that is long overdue.

He is an imperfect vessel to make these things happen.  But, as I stated earlier, I will support him in these efforts until demonstrated that he is failing.  Quite honestly, every president is accorded a honeymoon.  I actually think Trump's is coming.  (Anyone read CNN today?  Most of the articles were pro-Trump.  I almost fell off the toilet seat.)

We try to move our lives, our business endeavors and our country forward.  It is my hope that Trump will continue what he is doing and forge a better future for all of us.

Small world. Although not sure if Donald did anything to the city worse than what the project itself was causing/ had caused. They had the bigger share of the mass lawsuit filed by the Zuckermans because the existing sewage pipe that ran across the course was long overdue for replacement. IRC, the argument on what triggered the slide was - the ancient sewage pipe? the construction activity or the slide plane itself? We were done with it when the slide occurred. Matter of fact, PGA officials were at the site that day trying to handicap the course when it slid.

WE developed the original golf course once called 'Ocean Trails' for the Zuckerman brothers. I was a budding project manager for the project. I can tell how much PV rock we drilled, hammered and carved out of that property to shape it the way it was. Had it not been for Trump, the city will be left with a golf course that will only play 15 holes and lose much more over the years as it can never demand enough revenue to meet operating cost - than it is to submit to Donald's demand and make it what it is today. The city did not have too many options. Actually, they had none. Donald contracted with a company called 'Sutter Construction' to re-develop what was left of the course. I think it's a money drain even for Donald today.

The 300 year old landslide plane restricted any development other than a golf course. Save for the small condo complex in the middle of the property, and outside the plane, the area would've been a wasted parcel and a lost revenue source had it not been developed.

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2016/sep/30/donald-trump/nuclear-claim-donald-trump-says-hillary-clinton-ga/

Trump says Clinton "gave up 20 percent of America's uranium supply to Russia."

The reference is to Russia’s nuclear power agency buying a controlling interest in a Toronto-based company. That company has mines, mills and tracts of land in Wyoming, Utah and other U.S. states equal to about 20 percent of U.S. uranium production capacity (not produced uranium).

Clinton was secretary of state at the time, but she didn’t have the power to approve or reject the deal. The State Department was only one of nine federal agencies that signed off on the deal.

For a statement that contains only an element of truth, our rating is Mostly False.

Yup, it is a small world.  Have played the course both as Ocean Trails and as Trump National.  One of my recent visits was while Michael Jordan was filming a commercial there.  Kinda neat.  While the ongoing revenue stream from Trump National may not quite break even (I don't know) the revenue he picked up from other associated ventures paid him off very well.  The mayor of RPV was/is a good friend and continues, to this day, to disparage the way Trump handled things.  He is not a very popular man here on the Hill.

Maybe we can get Gator to come join us out here next time he's visiting his son and take in a round.

The course isn't worth the money. I'd rather play Los Verdes (public course) were it not for the crowd. Why Donald insisted on that stupid waterfall on the first hole is beyond me.

Last I played there was '07 (IIRC). I took my clients out for a day of golf. Two groups of foursomes. The green fee was $420.00/person plus a silly Trump add-on charge he called 'green fee tax' of $80.00/p. It was a Sunday, so we retreated for brunch. Holy Smokes! The golf tab was nothing compared to that bill.

Hard to beat the view though. Pebble, Sandpiper, maybe Torrey Pines comes close...but would rather play Pelican in NB any day.

Stated as if he had originated the scandal.

The Russian uranium deal had been reported ad nauseum for the entire campaign.
Strange..............Neither of the Clintons to this day has ever denied it.
This must be that feigned land referred to in the title of the thread.

another Clinton story, haven't we had enough?

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/jun/30/donald-trump/donald-trump-inaccurately-suggests-clinton-got-pai/

First, the State Department did approve of Russia’s gradual takeover of a company with significant U.S. uranium assets, but it didn’t act unilaterally. State was one of nine government agencies, not to mention independent federal and state nuclear regulators, that had to sign off on the deal.

Second, while nine people related to the company did donate to the Clinton Foundation, it’s unclear whether they were still involved in the company by the time of the Russian deal and stood to benefit from it.

Third, most of their Clinton Foundation donations occurred before and during Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid, before she could have known she would become secretary of state.

Frank Giustra was the Canadian involved, and he was out of the company in 2005.

Given that deal also had to be approved by the Canadian government, which was a Conservative government with far deeper ties to Ukraine than Russia (read Harper's statements on Ukraine, and one of his ministers received an award from the Ukrainian government for his service to Ukraine), and that the Canadian government approved it, I'd say this is all smoke and mirrors.
After the fall of communism, the biggest mistake Boris Yeltsin's regime made was not to disband the KGB altogether. Instead it changed its name to the FSB and, to many observers, morphed into a gangster organisation, eventually headed by master criminal Vladimir Putin. - Gerard Batten

No, you’re not... I’m referring to someone who shelled out their hard earned money for Trump University thinking that Trump had some interest in their success only to realize they’d been scammed, the same way Republican voters think Trump wants to bring jobs back and has some interest in America’s success, Trump settled their class-action lawsuit for $25 million, unfortunately his Presidency will shield him from future lawsuits over this scam

This golf talk is more interesting than liberals suffering from PISS (post inauguration stress syndrome).

Don't know when I will return.  The son is so involved with film school that he could not (or did not) make time to see his mother when she traveled to SoCal to meet her brother.

GQ's talk of $500 green fees in '07 is frightening.  Is this for real?  I played a few courses in Palm Springs three years ago, and their fees were reasonable.

I'm enjoying the meltdown.

Some quotes from a Huffington Post (I still can't believe it) piece I linked too earlier.

"There’s absolutely no way for Vox or any other Clinton public relations firm to spin the fact Bill Clinton received $500,000 from a Moscow bank with ties to the Kremlin."

"Hillary Clinton didn’t “give up” 20% of U.S. uranium to Russia, but Uranium One donations to the Clinton Foundation might have influenced the State Department and Obama’s administration to approve the deal."

"Also, why were Uranium One donations “not publicly disclosed by the Clintons, despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors”?"

"The Clinton Foundation received millions of dollars, as the Podesta Group lobbied on behalf of Uranium One. Uranium One was already owned by the Kremlin, while the Podesta Group was lobbying on behalf of Uranium One. The Obama administration sold U.S. uranium to a company that was essentially owned by Putin."

Of course this isn't Trump and those types of coincidences would have people yelling for impeachment if it had been Trump.  Not that screams of impeachment are not already happening on much less than what we see with the Clintons.

Oh yeah. Such absurd green fee is not one you can ever forget. Not sure how much it is now. It will still be winter rates, I believe. There are three things I like about the course. 1) IIRC, the 16th hole is a force carry - 260 yards off the tee to hit the fairway, 2) They use silica sand on their bunkers, 3) As jone mentioned, celebrities litter the place.

It was originally a Pete Dye designed course, but Donald added a Disneyland-esque touch to it to make it a bit tamer...with faux waterfall and all. Always breaks toward the ocean.

Had a hand on few courses in PS. Ironwood CC, Desert falls, and PGA West - Nicklaus course, etc...

Didn't want to burst your bubble, GQ, but green fees are $300 at prime time now on Trump National.  Same as we paid at PGA West.  Never played Pelican but heard its a nice course.  Played Riviera a whole number of times and the LA Country Club.  But my game has erroded over the years.  It is a vice that you must pay a steep fee to maintain.

If you can get your wife to let you play at Pelican Hill, I will guarantee you it will cost you a lot more than $500 in spa treatments and a trip to Fashion Island.

Probably winter rates. Plus don't forget the green fee 'tax'! Riviera is nice, hate both LA CC and Hillcrest (hackers paradise). Much too old school for me. Rancho California (old senior open venue) is a better course than those two, except for the 6 hour-round.

60 bucks at PGA West. Summer rates. Just make sure you're out before the sun does. At 6:30 it's 90 degrees, burnout by 7-7:30. You can cook your lunch on your cart by 10.

I like playing the Pelican - North and South courses. So is the best kept secret in OC - Strawberry Farms Club. But my clubs beat all of these - Rustic Canyon and Moorpark CC. Cheap memberships, too. 3-3.5 hr rounds. My kind of pace.
