Lodging in Kazan??
« on: July 13, 2006, 06:14:45 AM »
Hi. Has anyone here ever been to Kazan, Russia? I can't seem to find any info on renting apartments there, other than hotels, on the Internet. If someone could point me in the right direction... Thanks!
You will know that which you have been searching for when you find it.

Wist,

I lived in Kazan for about 6 mos. do you speak any Russian? do you have a certain lady you're visiting? how long are you staying?

i ask these questions because if you can speak Russian or have a lady there, you can find an apt when you get there, or have your lady arrange things for you.

the last time i was there I stayed at one of the hotels for a few days then moved into a pretty decent apt fairly close to the center for $300 per mo. when I lived there for 4 mo. I rented a nice place a little way from the center in the Saharava district (about a 40 min bus ride from the center because of all the stops it made) for  $140mo., but that was in 2001.

point is apts are available. both times though, I found the apts through local newpapers after my arrival. you should pay roughly the same amount depending on your proximity to the center.

Kazan is one of my favorite cities in Russia and has seen good growth in the last couple of years. It has a decent nightlife, and of course is full of beautiful women, both Russian and the Tatars (imagine a woman with jet black hair, porcelain skin and green eyes and you have an example of the Tatar look).

If you can provide some more details about your situation, when you arrive, how long you're staying, etc., I might be of more help. good luck and peace out.

I was in Kazan last December but had contacts where I could stay. In general all I could find through the internet when planning my trip were hotels too.

When I was arranging my visa documents the company arranging my invitation warned me that registration could be more difficult due to Kazan being a city with a lot of military industry. Once there it turned out not to be so difficult if you know the right places. In general it might be better to take the same approach as chivo and stay in a hotel first to check out further possibilities.

I totally agree with chivo that Kazan is a very nice city to be in. There are some interesting sights around there and the mix of Russians and Tatars make it very interesting.

I am lucky enough to be living together with the girl I met there last December and we hope to return for a vacation next summer of maybe next January already.

I spent a week in Kazan, There is one hotel near the train station I used.
as you come out of the train station walk to your left down the street about 50 yard, on the right hand side is a hotel I think it was 35 a night Breakfast included.
If you need more lodging info contact me I have a but load of info for Kazan.

Also I heard you can rent a flat from within in the train station it'sself for very cheap.
