Green Cards

I am getting conflicting information regarding originals and photocopies?

I made copies of the green cards (both sides) and had these copies laminated. The originals were placed in my safe.

Is this ok to do or should they carry the originals at all times?

The reason I posted this is because someone at SSA said to NEVER carry your SS card on your person. Keep it locked away in a safe place at home. Seems that identity theft is a big issue so I imagine criminals can steal green cards as easily as SS cards.

I think the only times she will need to have her green card with her is when she gets hired to prove her ability to work, for travel, and for any dealings with the government. Otherwise it is best to keep it in a safe place.
