In a discussion about the banned Russian 'Presidential Candidate', Navalny - revealing the  closeness of Manafort - a former 'Tramp' lobbyist / adviser, Russian Oligarchs and the Kremlin - I mocked BillyB, as Navalny used Youtube to post a video - as Google  - as far as I understood - was apolitical

Imagine my surprise to note that the Kremlin really ARE that stupid - threatening to block youtube and instagram - for carrying the story.

Could this be the same Kremlin that mocked Ukraine's decision to block RU social  media, banking, news, etc., etc.,  sites - and lots of Russians setup VPNs to allow Ukrainians to view the sites ?

Please note censorship is banned as part of the RU constitution - but once again - Roskomnadzor - the media regulator - is doing JUST that.. as a result of a Court Order obtained by the Oligarch - as his g/friend had posted stuff on instagram that tied him into being EXACTLY where secret meetings between a long-standing Kremlin official and Manafort took place ..on the Oligarch's motor yacht

The instagram stuff was posted by the 'friend' of the Oligarch and the posts have been up for 1.5 years !

Next time you hear a Russian saying Ukraine is run by Oligarchs - check to see how black their pots are..

I reckon Youtube will cave in - so hopefully the video will simply appear somewhere else ...

What can you expect from an administration that tried to destabilise Ukraine and in the process of doing so, shot themselves in the foot by alienating themselves geo-politically from the rest of Europe and losing any massive amounts political capital they had left?

Even their Universities, eg. MGIMO (their Harvard) are still teaching Cold-War era political discourse without much diversity of perspectives. And it is graduates from that institution that form the majority of Russia's Foreign Ministry workforce.

I shudder to think what Russia's future will be, when the subsequent generations of university graduates inevitably enter the Putin administration. Probably more of the same.

It's a vicious cycle. Not sure if by design or by accident.
