you are a colonial .. your fore-fathers took English and screwed it up..

Scones aren't 'biscuits'

Biscuits aren't cookies and

Faucets aren't taps

..and I when I walk into a stationary shop and ask for a rubber - it quite is acceptable ..

Most shops are stationary, but not all sell stationery and certainly not all sell rubbers!
