Scammers on American dating websites!
« on: August 08, 2006, 07:13:12 AM »
:P Okay, as some may know, I got into the Russian women dating scene by complete accident. I had been writing a Lena Rutsova for about 6-7 months (since last December) before I found out that it was a complete fraud. What is interesting is that "she" had written to me first through ldssingles.com and gave me "her" e-mail on the 1st letter. Talk about a major hook and bait type of thing  :-[

Luckily enough, through some discussion (and debates) on RWG (currently down? on their server) I found that there is a strong pattern of Russian scammers sending letters through not just the mainstream American dating sites like match.com or yahoo personals but even a more specialized dating site such as ldssingles.com?

Lesson learned: Be proactive when searching for a RW. It's not rare that a RW may contact you first but know your source. It means everything. Just like journalism, you may have to do a lotta factchecking before you find a diamond in the rough.

Any other experiences using US dating sites?  :'(

prince_alfie  - also beware of Jewish dating web sites, some Russian ladies feel Jewish men tend to be more wealthy than the average man is. So they will list themselves Jewish dating sites pretending to be of the Jewish faith.

I begin with a advice : never inform about some of your post on a other forum, someone can dig and find some interesting thing that you will not like...

Are you sure that these women is a scammer ?

- You write each other for 8 month ( perfect, a scammer wil not write 8 month without try ask money )
- She reply 95% of your question ( perfect, a scammer will not reply almost all the question, too much work )

Now the stupid thing :

- In 8 month, you have never think about ask her phone number !
- Yourself, you have propose her to visit you in USA ( at the level of stupidity, these count double... that a RW don't know that it is not possible, i can understand but what about you !!! Like you need a driving licence before begin drive a car, you need know the administrative procedure for visa( tourist, K1, K3, etc ) before begin hunt foreign women

Again about the scam :

- She inform you about the airfare price and say that it is too much for her
- She ask help for the ticket, you propose to buy it for her... but she explain that if ticket are not at her name, she will not be able to quit Russia... Don't know for USA, but here in Belgium, in similar case, the ticket need to be at the name of the girl, with fixed datum and not refundable... Other expert can inform you for the USA case...

My question are : WHY DON'T YOU HAVE PROPOSE TO VISIT HER !!!!

I have read on RWG that you are again hunting... better to stop now, and use a few week for read all these forum... Visajourney is a good place too... Make first you home work, and a few month before you are able to take some holiday and make a trip to FSU, begin the hunt again...

Good post Bruno. It will be almost two years before I make my first
trip. Have been reading, writing, and learning as much as I can. It is tough
with so many questionable sites or agencies as to make time count.
I feel sometimes like I am just spinning my wheels. I find it very
difficult to write with your heart when you almost can feel that your letter
is going to the FAKE CLUB.  >:(  We have looked at a lot of sites as a group
and very few really are what they say they are. The differences in profiles
from agency to agency  of the SAME girl are ridiculous!! We have found
profiles spread all over the place. AFF to M.com and then some. I feel writing
to a girl and receiving mail back on a consistent basis is one way to see who
is behind the photo but if your letter ends up in The Agency Writers Club what
a waste of very valuable time for any of us. Heck!! scammers are only a small
part of the problem.

I have found scammers on just about every site I have visited, and I have visited quite a few. One gal sent me an email to my yahoo account from her yahoo account. The IP address said Wisconsin. (A friend maybe?) Then she shifted me to her mail.ru address. And then the old address disappeared off yahoo. It's not just the russian sites anymore. You can go to the most ordinary, mundane, 'american' site, and find women from the FSU posting profiles.

Viking: But you still need to walk along the beach to find it.

Gary or Golden25 above was married to a RW who now has her own marriage agency website here in America

Quote
We are Fortune Agency, Russia. Fortune is a proud member of Svetlana's Agency. We keep our reputation for honesty and integrity, we are sure this is the key to Svetlana's Agency's success, and our clients come to us by word of mouth alone. Our girls and women keep Russian culture and have high moral and family values. Generally these women are more loving. They tend to be much less materialistic. These peculiar features attract men's attention from all over the world. Though the age is not a big factor to them, as it is with women in the west, you must be very careful with very young women to create a stable family. With these characteristics it is possible to have a more traditional family structure. Many regards, Elena the Fortune's Manager

I would recommend reading my story "When the Best of Intentions Meet the Worst Intentions" first before using them.

Also there are a number of marriage sites that are "owned" by American men but are in reality owned and operated by their Russian wives. The husbands are in some cases no longer with them and an arrangement has been made that this does not become public knowledge.

Gary quite knows the errors of his ways. He is like MOST that go there without a clear idea how tricky things are there. Another giant red flag was her confession after they were engaged that she worked for the agency he was sending letters through and she had to do some shady stuff.... but "didn't want too"  ::) Gary is a white knight and was concerned for her instead of being suspicioned of her after her after the fact (engagement with ring) revelation. I do not believe any of the agencies are in the Stans. You could PM Gary (Golden25) he would glad to help you. I was told they send pictures of models. The ladies I seen on Gary's ex-wife's site seem to match that description. Row after row of drop dead gorgeous RW looking for a hubby.
