I am opposed to the Chocolates. They will only serve to further her dental deterioration while at the same time increase her body mass. To trade this for but a moment of her happiness does not seem logical to me. Send perfume, send you, send flowers (not a gift), a silk scarf, a fur coat, a gerbil or other small rodent...or something that will not cause her diet and teeth to head in the opposite direction from where you want it to head.

What does it mean?
Courtroom expression, Elen, used by trial lawyers and meaning : "I have proven my case and need not add more". Much used in the Perry Mason TV series, and in some John Grisham's novels as well.

As additional corroborating evidence, Your Honour, may I submit this statement :
"Flowers and Chocolate, very good ways to emotionally satisfy a woman. Flowers are up lifting with their symbol of peace and love. The colors and smells calm and relax the body and soul. Chocolates are dark and smooth with pleasure and lust, the texture that melts inside with every little bite."
It was made today by the witness shown below (one 28 y.o. Lastochka from Russia), and therefore fully credible and authoritative (takes care of the flower/gift issue, too ;)).

Quote
No chocolate for me from Italy as well ?
I COULD send you a large vase of NUTELLA, the popular Italian hazelnut-flavoured chocolate spread, if you withdrew your perjurous testimony of not melting just at the mention of chocolate ;D.

Elen, that is technically know as hypothetical construction, meaning that the promised result is NOT totally guaranteed (typical male defensive strategy ;)).

Actually See's is right in downtown Salt Lake City where it originated. Unfortunately I'm not a sweet tooth but mostly a sushi addict. Their chocolates are awesome regardless and can be recommended highly.

Give her a box of See's Truffles. I've witness about 8 RW eating the candy and they've all said it's the best candy they've ever eaten. No kidding. I hate lemon flavored candies but I can eat See's lemon truffles all day. That's how good it taste. Also buy her a book of scenic view of the country you live in and area/State. If she's interested in you, she'll love to see pics of where she's going to live.
Challenge yourself to not spend a lot of money until you've won her over.

Chololates are healthy :

Quote
Recent studies have suggested that cocoa or dark chocolate may possess certain beneficial effects on human health. Dark chocolate, with its high cocoa content, is a rich source of the flavonoids epicatechin and gallic acid, which are thought to possess cardioprotective properties. Cocoa possesses a significant antioxidant action, protecting against LDL oxidation, perhaps more than other polyphenol antioxidant rich foods and beverages. Some studies have also observed a modest reduction in blood pressure and flow mediated dilation after consuming approximately 100g of dark chocolate daily. There has even been a fad diet named, "Chocolate diet", that emphasises eating chocolate and cocoa powder in capsules...

Two-thirds of the fat in chocolate comes in the forms of a saturated fat called stearic acid and a monounsaturated fat called oleic acid. However, unlike other saturated fats, stearic acid does not raise levels of LDL cholesterol in the bloodstream. Consuming relatively large amounts of dark chocolate and cocoa does not seem to raise serum LDL cholesterol levels; some studies even find that it could lower them.

But people who eat chocolate are drug addict  ;) ... 3 drugs find in chocolate :

- Anandamide - An endogenous cannabinoid.
- Tryptophan - An essential amino acid that is a precursor to Serotonin an important neurotransmitter involved in regulating moods.
- Phenylethylamine - An endogenous amphetamine. Often described as a 'love chemical'. However, it is quickly metabolized by the enzyme MAO-B, preventing significant concentrations from reaching the brain.

Thank you Alfie. You being a person who doesn't like sweets, can testify that See's candies are awesome.

Ahhhhh yes,
Thanks JB.
Silver it is. A nice bracelet from Tiffany's would go well. What do you think?

Lawman,
I think the idea of a bracelet is good, but don't go too big on the first meeting gift.  Pace yourself a little bit.  If you go and give her an expensive gift when you first meet, where are you going to go next time?  I liked the idea of giving my now wife something perminant, not edible (candy) or anything with a limited life (flowers) but something she could keep as a memory of our first meeting.  She still wears it today, eight years later even though she has acquired many others of much greater cost.  It is truly the thought that counts here.

One other suggestion I have is to wait some time to give it to her too.  Gift giving should not be an obligatory action, but given from the heart.  Get to know her first and then it will be more meaningful.  Good luck to you.
KenC
p.s. (You should also be giving her flowers and candy while you are there)

I always advice something local, something handmade, something original to
your area or your life. I also like the coffee table picture books of your area
showing the local sites and flavor.

I never went big on any first gifts.

My typical gift was an inexpensive charm bracelet.
A beautiful woman is pleasant to look at, but it is easier to live with a pleasant acting one.
