"Online translating... it is free"… and it sucks. You don't want it.

I know that online translating is far from be perfect but it have help me a lot...

In the begin , Galina understandt nothing in English and we use the service from a marriage agency for translation... but these agency have make a bad work, they have change the text, they have cut in the letter, they have make own text...

We have begin write via private e-mail... and use the online translator for our letter... always the original text and the translation...

Now, we don't need anymore translation... her english is not perfect but i understand it... like you understand my bad english...

And after the first meeting, our mailing is become more private and i don't wish that a translator read it... it is my right to privacy...

Translating online of not is only a help in the beginning... but with time, the woman need to learn the language for the home country... Because in Belgium we use 3 languages ( French, Dutch, Deutch ), we have choice for the universal language, the English... but all is ready for when she go life in Belgium, one year university for learn Dutch... She cannot find in Nikolaev a translator / teacher who can learn her Dutch !!!

Translator, online of not are only a tool... but when we need to pay for a service, a minimum of quality is needed... and the translator from several marriage agency are very bad...

The online translator is nice for some of those sites that Bruno gives the links for.  Bruno, some of them are pretty racey! 

The online translator is good to a point when conversing with someone.  However, lots of the translation does not make any sense.  It's like using a low quality instrument when first taking music lessons.  You grow out of it.

I know that onine translators only give the "gist" of the message. I have compared online translatons with human ones and sometimes they are very close.  Sometimes they miss something.  My question, for those of you who know Russain and can rate the translation, which online translation site it good? Or is it best to buy the program?

Michael... almost all online translator use the same engine... only the database can differ a little...

Now, online translator are a wonder for short simple message... only use common English. Slang and colloquialisms are difficult to translate properly. Use simple sentence structures. It is perfect for a post card of a very short letter.

For more complex letter, a human translator is not a "must" but a "need"... some bad online translate can change the meaning of your letter and lead to problem.

I use it because he have a function for translate site... very interesting when you surf on russian site... of from other language... but in the time of high traffic, he don't translate all... maybe some timing function... if you wish, they can make human translation too but i have never use these service...
