Is X (Twitter) now the best place to get impartial news from?

If not what are the alternatives?

I say this as a lot of the old traditional news outlets seem to be swayed, perhaps more then ever by people with an add to grind be it government, big business, big money, Ideological persuasions, Ethical persuasions, Certain Organisations with power, etc, etc...

I think potentially the bias these traditional news outlets show could come from the right or left, etc depending upon who is pulling the strings behind the scenes.

I don't doubt that these traditional new outlets have always shown bias at some point in the passed but are perhaps now more biased than ever before. I recall in the UK the newspapers used to try and influence the masses, the Sun in particular but also the Mirror, etc But Newspaper influence has dwindled a little these days as too few buy Newspapers no more or can be bothered to look up theirs sites online much. The BBC has also often been seen as somewhat in the pocket of whoever is in Government (being state owned) but is perhaps more dominated by what the Government want to get across to the British people now more than ever.

On X on the other hand a member of X can choose who they wish to subscribe to and listen too. In theory they had a choice of what newspaper to buy in the past or not buy and the on/off button on their TV set. In reality though when those were usually the only way to get news there was little choice other than to suck up the phrasing that can with it and any ideology, etc.

X (or even Facebook if you prefer that) goes one step further in individuals now being able to find and post up news. Some may have their persuasions input some may be free of that and fairly impartial. Some may indeed be news that the old traditional news outlets won't publish for one reason or another.

Governments around the world are not happy though it seems. They seem to fear 'losing control' over the people and what they think. The more people that drift away from the traditional mainstream news outlets the less control they can exert. Not just government but also big businesses, big money, big organisations with axe to grind etc... Governments are starting to accuse content in Social Media as fake news, etc and some seemingly wanting controls over it - as if to take back power over controlling what the masses hear and see. Some news on social media may of course not be all that accurate but sometimes even traditional news outlets fell down in that. It seems more that Governments and other institutions wanting sway over the masses are unhappy that their grip is weakening on their ability to socialise the public their way and are fighting to gain back control over what is input into people's minds.

So what do members here think? Is Social Media (X, etc) now fast becoming the best place to get the news you want to you while being able to filter out the influence of what these big institutions want to put into you? Could Social Media (X) evolve still further into the domain of traditional news outlets? So we get more news through X by individual contributors through our TV screens and tune out of the traditional Television News Stations that we usually watch.

I am not X, but have at time somehow been sent there.  The postings are ridiculous as if written by a 4 year old.

The closest we can come to unbiased in USA is PBS, but it is left leaning like 90% of the national broadcast systems.  Perhaps it doesn't lean quite as far to the left.

Interestingly, despite all the screaming about FOX . . . the Sunday FOX news with Shannon Bream (used to be Chris Wallace) is the most balanced news you can ever have.  They always have 2 left wingers and 2 right wingers in their analysis panel.

The other news shows have 4 left wingers on their analysis panel.

I can't get FOX except for their Sunday news . . . but I hear their weekday news is very right wing.

I'm a retired electrical engineer, in 10 years I'd doubt I'd be able to find any work in this field, becuz it'll be done by AI, essentially for free
and one AI will be talkin to all the other AIs
The Chip Making AI will talk to the Marketing AI which will talk to the Automated Factory AI which talks to the shipping and accounting AI

AI will GREATLY reduce the demand for younger workers in EVERY FIELD, not to mention taxi drivers
and will depress salaries for all white collar workers like autmation did for blue collar workers

and the Billion Dollar to train AIs will all be owned by the oligarchy
and over time will get better and better

just one more thread in America's economic death shroud
