It's not always so easy. Would you abandon the family/parent you grew up with in their hour if need to just chance it elsewhere?

Some people are good socially so they can easily up sticks and get in anywhere. Moving takes money and keeping hold of a job and building up money isn't always easy. Some people are good at interviews have plenty of references to bring up, some people are good self employed at promoting themselves, sone people are good at more shady stuff perhaps, etc.

When I was in my twenties I had no real stable job, I could be in and out of employment every few months. The UK can frequently be like that to young people, I wasn't alone in that lol. There is then the case of where pastures may be better, a lot of Employers pass over young people in the UK as they think they haven't built up the skills they want yet, it varies I guess.

Even if I went to Ukraine say in my mid to late twenties I doubt I would have done well there with out done decent money behind me. It takes a while to get a hold on what the scene is like also. Time over again I would love to have the heads up on that one. I would learn Russian shortly after leaving School, probably forget about Uni and instead get money in doing anything I could. Still I guess things go in life the way they go and I am where I am now, could be worse I guess, can only hope things will come together for me now.

That's basically it, it's honest of you to state it Krim but if you know you have a talent that you can do well money wise on (Software Engineer) then you can be pretty confident that you can leave home and do well fof yourself.

I no doubt would have left home years ago permanently if I had such a talent as most guys in their teens and twenties wish to do so. However many like myself possess no unique talent that they can be pretty assured that they can survive and even thrive upon. The change to women competing with men in the workplace with equal pay upset the balance a lot. Back in the day a guy could leave home in his late teens/early twenties and be pretty sure he would fairly readily find employment and at a reasonable salary which would improve still further over time. These days finding employment can be hard for a guy and salaries to rent etc aren't all that great.

To be honest these days if a guy makes it to his 30s/40s/50s then that is the sort of age where he might get a better run at it as potentially guys by that age can work themselves into a better number but there is no guarantee of that of course. Myself I would quite like to build housing in Ukraine in the future, it's something I fancy doing however how to get the investment needed is another matter. If it's my own investment then it would concern me as corruption is high in Ukraine, with the war on I hear more so than ever.

when I was a teenager, the IDF put me through training designed to physically and mentally break me, to push me to my limit
this is how I found out, that you don't REALLY HAVE LIMITS, if you push yurself to the maximum, to accomplish the mission, no matter the physical/mental pain
they changed me from being a teenager into being a highly disciplined soldier
so for the rest of my life after that and university was no vacations, holidays, and I worked multiple jobs simultaneously
I made my employers ridiculous amounts of money, before breaking free and started working for MYSELF instead of THEM!

Or buy property in central/east Ukraine where property is cheap now because it's near the front and closer to the Russian border. I was watching a programme on TV once that said some of the wealthiest men in the world got very wealthy as they took what would seem like to others like a big risky gamble. I think one guy sent oil tanker ships near Iraq during the first Gulf War even when their wasn't agreements as to their safety, insurance, etc. if they had been hit he would have been ruined but as they weren't he made big money.

So to take a seemingly risky gamble that might pay off or perhaps a gamble that is actually foolish and lose a lot of money 🤔
