Hello everyone,

I'm a 39-year-old French guy currently based in sunny Malta, where I've been freelancing in IT. Life here by the Mediterranean suits my love for the outdoors : I spend my time hiking rugged trails, hitting the gym, or even scaling some local cliffs to stay fit and connected to nature.

When I'm not working or exploring, you'll find me immersed in books on philosophy, sociology, history, psychology, or the sciences : they keep my mind sharp and curious. For balance, I've been dancing Argentine tango for three years now; there's something magical about how it weaves rhythm, connection, and a touch of poetry into everyday life. As a creative outlet, I also craft natural, organic perfumes in my spare time. Blending essential oils to capture scents that bridge the rational world of logic with the sensual pull of the earth. It's my quiet way of harmonizing the abstract and the tangible.

What draws me here? I'm seeking a genuine connection with a woman who's equally passionate about growth and I thought, perhaps, Eastern women would fit better with me : someone fit and adventurous, open to learning and evolving together, with a depth that sparks real conversations. I value quiet intelligence over flash, shared hikes or philosophical debates over loud nights out, and a balanced sensuality that feels authentic rather than performative. No drama, no superficial chase : just that reciprocal spark of understanding that turns ordinary moments into something extraordinary.

Belarus is a good place if you are looking for someone athletic, their society doesn't have a lot of the excesses of the West. When I was there in 2018 a lot of the people there seemed to be into an active lifestyle, there was a marathon on one of the days I was there (around September possibly I think) in the Capital City of Minsk. The girl I met in question was into exercising before work on her cycle, etc and also the theatre.

She had a bit of a beef about me not being athletic lol even though I was just a general average build and six foot tall. She was neatly turned out, no tattoos. I don't know if the younger girls out there are going in for tattoos like sone of the Ukrainian girls are, it never used to be a thing but profiles with it on can be frequently found for Ukraine.

In terms of dating site I would use Fdate - fdating.com

It's a free site and everyone does their own profile.

With Belarus you'll be paying more for flights as you'll have to go to Istanbul, or possibly a flight through Serbia etc as a result of EU sanctions on the country.

I think with what you want while Belarus women are often grounded and good marriage material you may not get an exact fit on all counts but I think something pretty close is achievable. For what you want I think Belarus is likely a very good choice as a location to look for that.

Remember to stay out of politics and discussion of politics while you are out there. Avoid offending authorities and make the main focus dating. I suffered no issue when doing this out there and Belarus society seemed a pretty safe and reasonable society to me.

Anyway my goal is more to go there in person and meet people either naturally or from apps when I will be there (like maybe Poland, Belarus... not sure about Russia yet).

There is no such thing as reliable when it comes to finding love online, but
the site itself isn't a scam. Do you speak Russian, Belarussian or Polish? Or
will you need to find English/French speakers.

The Fdate (fdating.com) website goes back a bit now, most do but some have been updated along the way. The good thing with Fdate is that it tends to be the largest free dating website around. As the website is paid for by advertising then there is no profit motive to immediately trip you up of the site owner looking to squeeze money out of you even at the disadvantage to your dating search. Women write their own profiles on there rather than agencies. It's a basic looking site but it's down to earth and genuine enough. Probably around 90 percent or more of the dating profiles are legit on there. Be careful not to be lured off by any profiles to pay per letter sites (ppl) there occasionally have the odd profile that do that on there but it's usually rare.

Going there in person to meet people naturally I think is the best way but that usually relies on 'time'. You tend to need more time to do that then just a week or possibly even two weeks. If you arrive there and start messaging women the moment you touch down not all are going to respond, some will never respond, some will respond in a few days possibly, if you're lucky you'll get a response straight away. Unless you're Brad Pitt (a pretty boy, etc) then women aren't going to be responding to you fast in all likelihood. If you are a pretty boy, etc then your response rate could be fast but not many guys are that attractive most guys are everyday looking.

To increase your chances definitely invest in some professional photographs for your profile, that will up the response rate quite a lot so is money in the bank when going on an expensive journey. Ukraine would be a cheaper place to go but you can't fly in, they let in foreigners now and there are probably more women searching for a man now as many have been lost or maimed in war. Anyway, apps are ok particularly apps where you have to be in their city for you to show up as their in the app location so they know you are not messing them around and can date. Even Tinder may work better than in the West but my FSW tells me that even in Ukraine now it is used for hook ups. I found that you need to really be in a big city for the apps to be of use and have really good dating profile photos. I also found that apps tend to throw up women out there that seem to be particularly high maintenance, kind of girls looking for what a guy can do for them sort of thing so not really a great place to be. Hence why I would still prefer Fdate as my immediate go to resource, it's old skool but it's a better resource I think but good profile photos for a good response rate are still a must.

With Fdate there are many down to earth girls on there that won't take you for a ride and the occasional few that might normally the more attractive girls. Also the only girls on there are ones looking for a foreign man so your correspondence will be more welcome there. Most girls on there will know some English but their level of English will vary. Google Translate App on your phone can fill in for those with no so good English when meeting them but their English can improve as it's a bit so difficult language.

There are other sites around to use but essentially Fdate still remains the best out there at present so I would go with that one as your first choice.

Remember Russia you will need to pay for a visa and even then it's not necessarily the safest place to be as a foreigner plus potential issues with using your bank cards out there due to sanctions. Probably not the easiest place to start of on this venture these days. Belarus is ok, I believe still visa free for 30;days or whatever flying in & out of Minsk (check on this). Ukraine is completely visa free for many foreigners for 90 days I think, again check on this but be careful of where you stay because of the bombs. Poland is so-so. It's an EU country not as poor as it used to be so not so many women looking for a foreigner as a lifestyle upgrade. Remember they have to see good reason to leave their family and go live with some guy abroad even if the country isn't all that far away, unless you wish to live there. Poland has a large Catholic population, ok if you're Catholic be could be difficult if not. In Poland I would avoid touristy cities like Krakow if looking for women the women there avoid foreign men like the plague and will avoid eye contact, most of them at least. Better to go to non touristy towns & cities for women that are less accustomed to the foreign man. I found Poland not so good for women, as I went to Krakow for a few days before travelling onto Lviv but I mixed tourism in with it. The women are perhaps not so pretty in Poland and I think stick to their own more than even other FSU countries. In the UK they have usually never really mixed with English men much with only an odd few having relationships with English men most stick to dating Polish men here also.
