I really don't see the big fuss here.
What is wrong with us knowing your sex & country of origin?
Are you that paranoid that someone may use it against you for crying out loud! ::) Or are you hiding some big secret, which wouldn't be detected by such minimal information anyway.
Dang did I open a can of worms or what? :o
I'll give you my reasons for wanting this info, as if I already haven't, but for those who tend not to read what I write & translate my posts to their liking I will reiterate:
1/If I am aware of what sex you are I can then answer in regards to gender specifics & not refer to you as someone of a different sex or insult you by inadvertantly saying something that is gender specific & you being of the other gender.
2/If I know what country you are from I can determine your English understanding & therefore I can forgive your lack of understanding some things & also phrase my response in a more reasonable way that will be easier for you to undestand. Although many of our boardmembers not from English speaking countries have excellent English language skills there are those who don't.
3/Also as to country of origin, I just like to see the dynamics of those in this endeavour. I find it quite interesting where those who are pursuing RW are from & the widespread phenom & popularity of its growth.
If this tad of info is too much for you, as the FBI might be able to track you down now that they know you are a male & live in Sweden, well I suggest you best get out of this game, because they are gonna ask a whole lot more info when you try to bring your future wife home!! ::)

Let me get you spluttering some more Richard  ;D

As far as gender is concerned I think it should not be a problem. But on the other hand fmales that are not looking for a partner here may object as the gender 'female' might be enough to get some unwanted PM's and attention from males.
For country of origin...well that will confuse a lot of people. If you are a Russian Woman married to an American but living in Italy (just borrowing BC's situation).... what should you put ?

This is the other side of the coin. But I have not yet made up my mind about what to vote.

I'm going with Rvr on this one. It does change how you read someones post and respond to them with this type of information. I don't see that a woman would have much problem as she can always report the post/poster to Dan and the ModSquad who will take appropriate action.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with reporting minimal information like gender and location.  I would also add marital status.  Knowing if someone is just looking for a RW, engaged or married helps a reader put the opinions in proper perspective.  Look people, we are not asking for your social security number or your password, just a little identification as to who you are.

By the way, I don't like the move of some items from the right to the left menu. Previously, I could avoid seeing some inane Quotes simply by leaving the right menu closed >:(.
