A question for you married Canadians

I am wondering how you handled your first income tax return when you first married your Russian wife and before she joined you in Canada.  Did you even include her on your tax return? 

I know that when my turn comes to do this I will be talking to my tax accountant, but before that I just thought it would be nice to have a general idea on how it worked.

I swear I didn't read yours until now, I was curious what question someone had for our Northern neighbors.  I wonder if taxes returns are as annoying and complicated up there as they are here. Sorry for the  intrusion to your post.
