We visited immigration today.  We have a pass that lets us get seen immediately any time we show up.  Mrs. R. claims we should get her green card in the mail within the next six months.  We should mail in our I-131 anyway since it may not come before she flies to Russia in June (now that sounds encouraging).  The problem is the FBI clearance and she has no control over them and the California service center etc.

If I were a betting man, I would say that the Congrats notice should arrive in about a month and the card in 2-3 months but then, I prefer poker over INS bets.

Good thing you're not a betting man  ;D

Our case status changed in early December:
Quote
Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Fingerprints review completed.

Review of the fingerprints taken relating to this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS has been completed. Processing of this case continues. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our MISSOURI SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates.

It still reads the same "don't call us - we'll call you"
We just filed another Congressional inquiry a few weeks ago, but contrary to Clyde's assertion, the last one we filed was replied to this past July and started with "Thank you for your inquiry dated August 5, 2005"

Yep took them 11 months to scribble out a two line letter stating that "Processing of this case continues. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you." :seething:

I guess not surprisingly, we got the same tepid response from the Sun Sentinal and Miami Herald as Bruce got from the NYC papers.

There is another letter sent out when they are processing the card. . . . for when they make the actual, real, final, unequivocal, 100% last decision. . . . .

William III, thanks for the encouraging prediciton.  I'll let you all know how it turns out.  Jet - your case continues to astonish me.  I hope the horror for your wife ends soon.  I hope nobody else ends up like your case, though I suspect I am following in your footsteps.  Perhaps it is income that targets the BCINS ie. you make too much (whatever that is), or perhaps it is just a random event that plunges a persons file into the BCINS land of oblivion.  I suspect and also want to hope it is purely BCINS incompetence ie. random events that sometimes plague even the best of us.  Perhaps one day we can all go on an objective television show pertaining to these kinds of situations and how they affect families  :-\.  I see we have two wet hankie folks.  Thats for you "funny guys" who need a life.  Its the last thing my family needs.

why dont a few of you lost cases get together and go to the press?

Show that its not an isolated incident.

AS CONGRESS DEBATES WELCOMING ILLEGALS, LEGAL IMMIGRANTS WAIT IN LIMBO.

How does that sound? Even some blogs would help. . . .

Just an update.  Any advice is welcome.  Today my wife went to the NY BCINS.  They took away her appointment that let her bypass the huge lines.  The people who had tried to "help" us were supposedly not there.  Some GOMEZ told my wife that there is nothing they can do to help her case and that the FBI namecheck may take her 30 years.

Called the congressman.  Spoke to the congressional immigration liason.  She says no need to come down, she will write another letter in our behalf, but there is nothing she can do for FBI name checks.  That is the new mantra, thank you President Bush.

So, now I have my wife distraught one more time because of the BCINS.  Soon we will be married 3 years without a greencard.  Nice, fair government we have.

You can write an emotional letter to the president and see if the great uniter would like to get some positive press. . . . .

OR

You can try to get some press interest in your case. A negative article does wonders for the wheels of "justice."
