Contact Don from Arizona.  His wife is from Sochi.  He has a good current handle on what is going on there.  I am sure it is E for expensive but always will have fond memories for that city.

I spent a week in a town next to Sochi in July, it's a fairly nice resort city but very crowded in the Summer. I believe there's skiing off season, but not much else. I've heard guys complain it is expensive, but it didn't seem such to me (then again, my time in Russia has been limited to Moscow & St. Petersburg, which makes me a poor barometer).
