Installed RSS Feeds for Each Board
« on: November 10, 2006, 04:21:17 PM »
You may notice the new icon -- which appears on the Forum Index page.

This enables you to get automatic feeds of any new messages in that particular board.

Those of you using Firefox need to be aware there is a bug in Firefox and you should realise that the popup you see to save the index.php is a bug in Firefox 1.5. You need to install a separate feedreader in 1.5 before you can use the RSS feeds.

Glad you explained, I was worrying an epidemic of measles had suddenly broken out at RWD ;).

Maybe you should explain it publicly and, incidentally, clicking the red pustule leads to a blank page saying International Forums http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php Live information from ???

What browser/newsfeed reader are you guys using?

When I use Firefox, I get the bug described in my opening message - but with Opera, I get a message asking me if I want to subscribe to the newsfeed.

I have no idea about IE. I try not to do any more MS than absolutely necessary.

I am using IE

I get a window asking me if I want to open or save the file.

If I say open it give me a window asking if I want to buy Microsoft Digital Image or use the free starter edition.

If I click use the free starter edition it says file type not supported.

Do you have a Newsreader installed?

Here is a list of them -- http://www.newsreaders.com/win/clients.html

Once installed, you should be given the option to subscribe to the feed.

Do you have a Newsreader installed?

If have a news plug-in in firefox 1.5.0.7 but it don't work with with these forum... the plug-in is Foxnews ( http://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/629/ ) ... the file open in Bluefish who is a programme editor... the problem seem to be the file extension of the feed who is .xml ... a lot of site with feed use the file extension .xul ...

With Konqueror, all is working ... and all is too much... when i click your little icon, it open the xml file... when i click the capture feed from the Konqueror browser, he take all the RSS feed from the page in one time !!!

So with Firefox, it don't work ... with Konqueror, it work all or nothing... cannot select only on feed... for other browser, need to wait next month... after i upgrade my system to official Mandriva 2007...

Dan,
What exactly is a feed?
Why is it different from visiting the board?
The board is always being updated also.
Is a feed like a refresh button?
In the early days of Internet we were always told to refresh pages that were updated often.
