I have subscribed to AT&T special program - you pay $50 a month and have your calls unlimited to SPT and Moscow (ground lines).

Donna,

When you said "subscribed" do you mean that you have to have AT&T as your long distance carrier or is this a prepaid phone card you bought from AT&T?

What is SPT?

Is $50 a month a flat fee or do you have to pay FCC fees, connection charges, taxes, etc in addition to the $50 a month?

Can you make unlimited calls to places in Russia other than Moscow under this AT&T special program and still pay $50 flat fee a month?

Thanks,

Erwin

Bruno,

Try this site -

http://www.callcalc.com/

With a millenium card you will pay 0.125 Euro per minute + local connect charges.

My wife uses the Yes card very good rates to Ukraine from UK 6.5 pence per minute land line 8 pence per minute to mobile (Kyiv Star).

My first three phone calls to Tatyana cost me quite a bit. After the calls I noticed that it's 1,29 euros/min. I found a cheaper operator and since then it has been 0,29 e/min at first and after registration and adding her phone number to friends category it's been 0,18 e/min. It's interesting how low prices US have compared to Finland.

I call her almost every day and we talk 15 to 45 minutes. Her English is average (minus). Sometimes (quite often) when I describe something in many words, she doesn't understand what I was talking about. When I ask her something difficult, she cannot answer, because she don't have words for her thoughts. Once she asked that do I understand Russian, because sometimes she says Russian word instead of English and I seem to understand her thoughts.

Anyway, we both have found qualities from each other that we like and talking over the phone have brought us closer. We have not met yet, but we will after few days. :))))

My calls have had an effect that she does not write to me anymore. She has never liked writing letters.

If you have found a woman you like very much, call her and keep calling her!

I have not used skype, but I have used a similar service, http://www.iconnecthere.com  .  I have not called from computer to computer.  But,  have placed calls from my computer to a regular phone line and mobile phone in Kiev.  I have a broadband connection.  The sound quality is usually quite good.  Occassionally on the weekend  there will be sound breakups.

The cost is a bit less than skype (at least from the US to Kiev).  I think I currently pay about 11 cents a minute.

MSN Messenger allows voice conversations too. Rather good I'd say

Eyeball Chat messenger is much better for video and voice conversations. MSN and Yahoo are not good for that, I must say (have tried them both - not a good result, I must say).
I am not looking for absolution. Forgiveness for the things I do. But before you come to any conclusions - try walking in my shoes.

I have used Skype. If you communicate via a pc it is free, to communicate from your pc to a mobile phone it is not free. When Skype is working well the sound is crystal clear.

You might want to try PINGO. The connections are great except if you try to dial cell numbers, then it's not so good, but to her home very clear and reasonable price. I think for the $50 card it's over 7 or 8 hours of call time. Ukr. is more expensive to call than Rus.

I use Skype all the time, and it works perfectly. I'm in Ivanovo now and am on a 48.8 dial-up line. I use it to call the states just about every day and never have problems. Of course, it works better if you have a DSL line or better, but for about 2 cents per minute, I have yet to find a cheaper way to call back home. Thats right, from anywhere in Russia to the States for about 2 cents.  Calling from the States to a cellular phone here in Russia is 7 cents US per minute or to a landline in Moscow or St Pete is 2.3 cents. Yesterday I made a 33 minute call for 57 cents Euro.

You can check out the rates here at: http://www.skype.com/products/skypeout/rates/all_rates.html?currency=USD

I've yet to find a better/cheaper way than Skype. And no, I don't work for them ;)
