Online Electronic Form DS-156
« on: November 17, 2006, 02:02:41 PM »
I just looked at the US Embassy Moscow website.  There is a change in procudure.  The basic visa application form DS-156 is now only done on an online version in ENGLISH.  not abailable in Russian.  This is an electronic form that you fill in online and the information is related to a barcode.  This might be a problem if your Fiancee
does not have the proper software and/or does not know how to file out online forms.  Of course, the G325A is also available as a online fillable form.  You need to have the latest version of Adobe Reader software.  I guess this just went into effect on 25 oct 2006.  Anyone had an interview since then?

I know of a guy whose fiancee had her interview in November, and the embassy phoned her a week before her interview date and explained that she had to bring a printout of the electronic version.

My fiancee has her interview in less than a month, and she received the old paper version of the DS-156 with no info about the electronic version. FWIW, she's going to bring both versions to the interview, just in case.

For anyone whose fiancee/wife has a bit of trouble with English I've posted a Russian language "cheat sheet" to help them fill out the form here:

Embassies are required to provide information in our national language and their national language for visa applicants.  ???Interesting if they are going to move away from that policy.  ::)The same requirement goes for choice of language at interview.  :-[

Actually my former fiancee was told at the start of the interview that the interview could be conducted in English or Russian but if she picked Russian she would not get the visa.   I have never heard of that before or since.
