Phone Russia for FREE
« on: November 27, 2006, 10:36:04 PM »
I see a lot of guy who are persuing their FSU women comparing rates for phone cards and phone services.   Here is something you may really like.

Call Russia (or most anyplace ) totally free.

http://www.futurephone.com/

I have not tried it yet but if you have phone service that lets you call a USA number for free it is supposed to work.  I think the quality may not be perfect but it is supposed to be fairly decent.   Hope this helps.

Turbo,

It appears that only Moscow and St Petersburg are available
when you click on (lower left) the Country Code & Prefix List,
plus you've gotta call Iowa. Fine for unlimited LD, but I do wonder
about the quality of connection. I also wonder why in blazes I've
awoken and am restless at !:50 AM Eastern?

Haven't checked Yannis' link yet.

Good catch that Futurephone only works for a few Moscow and St. Petersburg area codes.  I've seen a 'conversation' with the owner/creator of Futurephone, and seemed to be an interesting guy.  Currently a unique service he is offering in the USA, and hopefully he will be adding more countries (and area codes in Russia) in the future.

Freecall is another one of the Betamax companies (formerly Fineara), just like Voipcheap, Voipbuster, InternetCalls, etc.  Poeople either love them or they hate them.  We love them at this house.   ;D

Conner,

I'm pretty sure freecall.com is a Germany based VoIP service.  I notice my account balance is displayed in Euros, not dollars, and my "credit" purchase (by a MasterCard or Visa) was processed by a bank in Germany.

I've had some success using this service.   However, often when I dial up I get a poor connection and have to redial again and again which is bothersome.  But what the hell, it's free for 90 days.  All said and done, I'd say to those men with a lady in Russia, give this service a try, their rates to UA are not bad either @ about .09 cents per minute.

Betamax is a German company, but they bought the service from the Swiss company Finarea SA.  We have had little problem with bad connections, although with many VOIP services, there is sometimes a few second delay (silence) between the time the called party picks up to when they can hear you.

Futurephone is the only US based business that I have heard of that is doing anything similar.

I tried the "futurephone" yesterday and it actually worked.
The routing number they give you at the website is no good but when you call it you will be told the new one.
I wouldnt say the quality was great but it did work.

JP

I have been using VOIPcheap.com and I have no much problem with them.
If the line is not good I just redial......

Most of the time I speak free to Sofia and around the UK and the rates for Greece is nothing.....1 EURO I can speak for 1 hour........who cares my friend.

wiz,

You just don't understand.  When we first started this process, 7-8-9-or-10 years ago, we used to rack up $200-$300-and $400 monthly phone bills to talk to our ladies.  Being able to talk for free now is such a delight we just have to SING about it.  It's a old hand sort of thing a newbie just can't understand.  You guys getting into the program now have it so much better and cheaper than we did back in the bad old days,,, give us our moment in the sun... please.

The nice thing about FP is you don't need a computer to use it.  I first used it about 3 months ago and quality was not bad at all.  I found that the signal is better to London and Italy than to UA,  not too bad for free though.  And much better than service and price years ago as JB mentioned.  Used to be pricey.  Like $1 per minute and more back then.

I have also been using freecall.com for the past few days now to talk to my Marina near Volgograd and talking handsfree on my laptop.  great audio with occassional need to redial , but that can happen with calling cards also. You can also call cellphones within USA for free.  great recommendation I picked up here on RWD.  thanks-jj

Nataly has been using Skype to talk with her family in Ukraine. She started using it about 2 weeks ago, and now talks to them every day! It's free if you call from comp. to comp. and a very small charge if you use the phone.

So this other service doesn't charge even if your not using the computer?
