Something to think about for the large age difference group
« on: March 24, 2005, 11:50:36 AM »
I recently diagnosed myself with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I walked outside, it's a beautiful day, I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway I notice my truck needs washing.  As I head for the garage, I notice there is mail on the porch table that I had intended to put in the mailbox earlier.  I decide to go through the mail before I wash the truck. I lay my keys on the table and put the junk mail in the waste can under the table, and notice that the can is full.  So, I decide to put the mail back on the table and take out the trash first.  But then I think, since I'm going near the mailbox when I take out the trash I might as well pay the bills first.  I take out my check book off the table and see that there's only one check left and my extra checks are in the the desk in my study.  So I go inside the house to my desk where I see a Coke that I had been drinking.  I'm going to look for the extra checks but I decide I should finish the Coke, but after one taste I see it's warm and I decide to put it back in the refrigerator.  As I head towards the kitchen I notice a vase of flowers that need to be watered.  I set the Coke down on the table and see my reading glasses I've been looking for all day,  I decide I'd better put then back on the desk but first I'm going to water the flowers. Then I see the TV remote on the counter top where someone left it.  I realize the wife and I are going to watch TV later tonight so I decided to put it back in the den where it belongs, but I'm going to water those flowers first.  I put the remote on the table and pour some water in the vase, spilling a bit so I have to go get some paper towels to wipe it up.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was palnning to do.

At the end of the day:
The truck isn't washed,
the bills aren't paid,
there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter,
the flowers don't have enough water,
there's still only one check in the check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I've lost my keys.

Then I try to figure out why nothing got done all day because I'm really tired and I was busy all day.

Don't laugh, if this isn't you yet, your day is coming~!

Growing older is mandatory, growing up is optional, laughing at yourself is THERAPEUDIC

LoL,

Lover the thought jd: When I was in my early 20's, I was doing a great deal of Duck hunting and one of the men I hunted with was the caretaker of the club. He was introduced to me as Pappy Oleson, I never knew his real first name, just called him Pappy he was a very spry and lucid 81. Pappy had out lived 2 wifes and was  still very popular with the ladies in their early 60's, I could not help but admire the man, still chasing skirts at 81.

Anyway one day when while out hunting we were talking about the girl I had with me the night before at the club's yearly banquet. She was a stunning  21 year old who had been living with me at the time and I was commenting that while she was great in bed she did not have a coherent thought in her pretty  head. Pappy turned to me and said something I have never forgotten "Son there will come a time in your life when a good Shi* will be more important that a Fu**", at the time I thought that old man was crazy, 30 years later while I am not there just yet the handwriting is on the wall. he was not as crazy as I thought.

I think it's very instructive that everyone on the thread understood that this little story was humor, not real.  All except Elen, that is.

On the subject of 'Old Age', did you hear the Pillsbury Doughboy died?

His obituary...

The Pillsbury Doughboy, died yesterday of a severe
yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes
to the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a slightly greased coffin. Dozens
of celebrities turned out, including Mrs. Butterworth,
the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, the
Hostess Twinkies, and many others. The graveside was
piled high in flours as longtime friend Aunt Jemima
delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who
"never knew how much he was kneaded".

Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later
life was filled with many turnovers. He was not
considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his
dough on half-baked schemes. Still, even as a crusty
old man, he was a roll model to millions. Doughboy is
survived by his second wife, Play Dough. They have two
children and one in the oven. The funeral was held at
350 for about twenty minutes.

jb,

I really enjoyed your original postI liked when you wrote:

"Growing older is mandatory, growing up is optional, laughing at yourself is THERAPEUDIC"

Lena and I joke and laugh about our age difference all the time.  Our standard line to others is that I married her for her money and she married me for sex.  I affectionately call her "401K" as our deal is that I support us for the first 20 years and she the second 20.

I was watching The News today and saw the report from UK. One woman was driving her car and talking by her mobile (cell) the same time. So she was so keen on phone talk that her car broke through the bridge fence and falled down the river. But the most amazing fact was that the women was Okay when rescue service arrived there. No broken bones, or even  injuries. European women, European women.... LMAO

With a previous job I once had, I would drive about 35 miles each day to work.  At least once a week, I would come across a man who would read the newspaper while driving his car at 70 MPH.  He would drift to one side, look up, correct himself back into his lane, and begin reading again.  Scared the hell out of me!

No comments . But men always say - women drive cars worse then men.

The debates about this subject are like the rhotirical debates - who is better: cats or dogs? LOL
