HELLO Everyone !!!

   I am new to this website, found it quite interesting with a wealth of information. 
I always enjoy meeting new people of different cultures, countries & races and learning from them, while contributing when I am able to help someone that may need help. I am interested in learning languages, since I speak Italian, Spanish and am attempting at tackling the Russian language. My interests in history, particularly in WWII, has helped direct interests toward Ukrainian and Russian cultures. I have visited the Ukraine and have found its people to be very hospitable and friendly. I look forward to being a small part of this discussion board.

HI Techboy and welcome to the forum!  I'm fluent in Spanish too and I think it will help you somehat with learning Russian.  One head's up, though.  To call it "the Ukraine" is the same as saying "the Canada" or "the Mexico".  Maybe someone here can tell how this practice of calling it "the Ukraine" began.  I know in reading the English translation of Gulag Archipelago it is referred to that way, but since there are no articles such as "a" or "the" in the Russian language, this had to be the work of the translator.

If you find anyone that can explain how "The" Ukraine came about maybe they can explain why some people refer to Ukraine as Ukrainia???

I've often wondered about this but would imagine "Ukrainia" is incorrect, or at least almost never used anymore.

Welcome!  Maybe you could tell us where you're from, etc and what your current interest in FSU is???  Languages? Dating? Marriage? Travel?

For us other newbies here it'd be great if you could share your experiences from your previous trips(s) to Ukraine too.

I prefer  to call it.
"The country with the most beautiful women  any man could wish for "

Welcome to the forum.
If you have never been to a former Ussr Country then its a good idea
to talk to many of the members before you decide to take a trip
overseas.  I am also still looking for the right women.  I live in the Detroit area
and gave up on the American Date sceen about 8 years ago.
