New to this Forum - need advise
« on: December 17, 2006, 09:59:58 AM »
Hello everyone,

My name is Charlie and I am new to this forum but have been corresponding with various FSU women fro about 18 months. I have taken one trip to Kazan and one trip to Kiev.
I am English and a live in America as a resident alien (green card holder).  The relationship that I have developed with one particular lady whom I have been corresponding with for some time and visited once in Kiev is becoming quite serious.  I will be visiting her over Christmas and hope that we are able to learn enough about each other for me to consider taking the next step.
I believe that because I am foreign that I am not able to apply for a fiancée visa (K1?) for her to come and visit me so my only option is to marry her in the Ukraine and then apply for a green card for her and her daughter so that they can move here.  Has anyone on this forum been through a similar experience?  Any thoughts would be appreciated as well as any general advise.
Also I am looking for ways to find women from the Ukraine in the city where I live so that she has the possibility of making friends before she moves and has a support network when she arrives.  Any thoughts on this would also be much appreciated?
Thanks

Charlie

Charlie- you need to take on US Citizenship. LPR filings for spouses and children fall into the 2nd family preference category. The category is subject to an annual quota and the wait in the 2A category is about 5 years from the filing. Immediate relatives of USC are treated without quota and take about 1 year-somewhat less if you utilize the K3.

Or-naturalize and then do a K1 fiancee visa.

Charlie

You need to become a U.S. citizen.

There is no other way to bring her here.

There is a way.  I just don't know the trick.

During my years with Haliburton we had several Indian and Pakistani engineers here on work visas, I observed them going home to marry their family's arranged bride, and in a matter of weeks she was here on some kind of a visa.  It can be done if you are not a USC, but as I said, I don't know the trick.

You are talking about H dependents. These are nonimmigrant visas. Not LPR spouses. ALthough they might later become LPRs when their spouse converted through a labor certification
