Job wanted--Program Manager
« on: January 09, 2007, 01:24:42 PM »
Guy's,
I don't know where to post this. I have been a Program Manager in the Automotive Industry for ten years. I would like to work in the Ukraine or Russia for a while but open to anything here in the states also.I have lived in Germany for 3 years and Mexico for a year in the past. My back ground is Engineering but most of my duties the last 3 years have been being a Customer Rep ,tooling ,tracking quality ,timing ,cost ,bids and purchasing from suppliers.Traveling to suppliers around the world to make sure all phases of the program are met.My company here has been just bought out and all personnel were given a exit ticket to the door with a security guard. My current home is in Detroit, Michigan. I am willing to relocate anywhere. I have a CDL and my family has been in the costruction business since I was born where I have always worked when free time alloted. I know materials and equipment.

Its a sad day, But I am trying to keep my spirits up. I am open to anything that may come along. I am use to travel, fast pace and long hours. I have always dealt with upper management and owners of large firms.I have great references that can be given at anytime. I know how to please customers and public relations. If anyone can me give some idea's or would like my resume I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey Rumpy,

Sorry to hear the news. Start with the Moscow Times and the St. Petersburg Times. Maybe run some searches on Kiev or Odessa as well. I'll see if I have any links at home for jobs in the FSU.

Check out http://catalog.aport.ru/rus/themes.aspx?ID=203 if you can read Russian (you'll also be able to search for jobs more specific to what you're looking for)

Do some research on GAZ Headquartered in Nizhniy Novgorod (270mi east of Moscow). For that matter check out the city as it is Russia's version of what Detroit once was. A beautiful city with a booming economy. The city is not only famous for auto production, but also trucks, busses, trams, submarines, jets (military and commercial), boats & hydrofoils.

An interesting tidbit about GAZ from just-auto.com:
Quote
As DaimlerChrysler modernized its Sterling Heights Assembly plant in 2006, the old Dodge Stratus assembly line and tooling was sold to GAZ and will be shipped to Nizhny Novgorod in Russia. GAZ will continue to produce the Stratus under license there.

Not to throw water on your hopes for a new gig, but you should be aware that in Russia most companies value youth over experience.

If you are much past 40 you may well find it difficult to even be considered for a job in Russia no matter what your qualifications may be.

Russia... Land of the 22-year old manager, 28-year old director, and 31-year old bank president (If you happen to be the Govenors son!)

If I did go to Russia it would probably be with a contract company here or from the U.K.

But from what you said ,that was something I never knew. I am 35 by the way.I am still a Greenhorn here. I only have 10 years in.

Rumpy,

It looks like I dumped all that stuff when we got the new PC a few months ago, sorry. Other thoughts: Monster.com, Auto manufacturers web sites, Pepsi/Frito Lay, and Oil companies web sites are a few to look at if you haven't already.

Looks like you've got some good info from other folks here. Best of luck!

Sweet :)
If he needs any info on the local "non touristy" hot spots, let me know and Lil can point him in the right direction.
If he's got any choice in the matter, stay away from Hotel Volna (it's out in the middle of nowhere) and pick one of the others closer to the center (Oktobretskaya, Centralny, and a couple others come to mind)
