rivardco,

I have written reams on the subject; "The care and feeding of the RW".  I doubt you've absorbed a single word of it.

You may feel free to critique everything,,, after you've made a trip or two, 'til then, please remember, you know nothing at all yet.

JB - did not mean to get your goat.

I enjoy philosophy.  I admire Socrates greatly because he acknowledged that which he KNEW from that which he did NOT know ... no small accomplishment.

I have been honest and precise in my posts on RWD.

I have absorbed much more than one work you have written, and I have always applauded your knowledge. More than that, I have always shown deference and respect to your experience.  I will continue to do so.  My comment up thread was in regards to manner, not knowledge.

Furthermore, and in contrast with constant and well intended advise, I am happy that I waited a little while to go to the FSU.  It required additional study and preparation for me.  It does not mean that I am inactive or an observer-only.  I am fully employed right now ... Habla Espaniol?  Same interests; different course.

I hope NOT to make "critiques" now, or in the future.  We are all adults, and RWD is largely a supportive environment.  Rather, I hope to make "contributions."

Here, JB, have your goat back.

Ya know,,, this is akin to going to a fine restaurant, ordering the prefect Fillet Mignon, eating every last morsel,,, the complaining forever because the waiter was not handsome, or the hat check girl didn't smile.  I'm not here to kiss some newbie's backside.  You, and everyone else, are quite free to push the "ignore" button and never read another post from me.

'sway it is.

jb,

Love yer work!!!  I don't think many here expect you to drop to your knees and kiss their "wooly shorts".

I'm equally sure no newbie is prepared to kiss the ass of an "advanced aged" members in here.

Let me give YOU some advice... If someone asks you to bend over it's unlikely they're about to kiss you!   :-*

I've never asked that of anybody.  However if someone asks a question, and I give them the answer, honestly and straightforwardly, I only ask they not get their knickers in a knot because I didn't put enough "smiley faces" in the post.  We are all supposed to be men here, the way I write is the way men talk to each other where I come from.  Of course I work in the oil fields where there are no lace curtains on the windows.  The men I talk to and interact with everyday are rougher than 2/0 sandpaper, and most of my talking is in Spanish, yet they seem to like me well enough.  They work their hearts out for me.  I've been managing roughnecks, rig worms, and seismic bums for 30 years,,, I know how to talk to real men.

If you are that PC, don't read my posts, otherwise you are apt to be offended.

hahaha...  Don't get me wrong jb... I like your "gruff" posts.  You know I'm not a fan of personal insults or degradation but that's only because I don't think it's necessary in a place like this.

As for how people talk to each other in their local environments...  You would fit in well down here because we serve up our "reality" in a blunt and honest manner too...

I see. I understand you much better now. I think real friends speak their mind; otherwise, you are just passin through.  As for me, JB; continue to speak to me as you will ... I see the result of your effort here more clearly than you presume.

I am sure many do.

Nice of you to respond in this way.

But there will always be the Nerds, the Fantasy seekers, the Wish Fulfillment guys who have bought into the MOB myths, and other misfits of this world who get upset when told how the cow ate Mrs. Murphy's cabbage.  They can't handle the truth.

That's the group that gets under my skin.

I'm not here to be anybody's enemy, but I'm not a pushover either.  Try to sell an idea like the GC Lottery as a viable method of bringing a FSU woman over and you'll get my drift.

Actually, I really thought I wasn't too gruff here, comparatively speaking, by any measure, I've been pretty mild.  In real life I'm much worse.

Kindly explain how all the above applies to the posts that prompted your own "none-too-gruff, comparatively speaking" reaction.

That about sums up the entire scene. The sad reality of it is that for those of us who still walk this path to other countries quite regularly, it is obvious for all to see in most any relevant major airport.

I have come to quite understand of recent years why some of the FSU people consider us westerners fools.  To some extent the bottom end of our market justifies those opinions.  Don't any of you married and settled guys think for one second that at least one third of the men....cough.....who go looking are any better than they were 10 years ago.

These boards are great for those who want to be informed, but from what I have seen, the majority still don't want to know.  There is a danger here amoung those who at least know something of assuming that most do some intelligent research before they go and my experience over the last 4 years suggests very much otherwise.

I just wonder what percentage of interested people these info boards actually reach.  Methinks a smaller percentage.

Explain???  Have you been living under a rock?  In the past few weeks I've been attacked from every quarter for simply telling the truth,,, straight from the hip.  I don't live in fantasy land, I don't have a wish fulfillment mission, I don't need to glorify RWs to the extent of making a Goddess of them.  I'm just an old married guy who tends to have his head screwed on straight, and I know RWs are just human.
I also know a bit about the culture and why they are different and special.   Very different from AW.

Anyone who says RWs are the same as AWs has never lived with a RW.  It's night and day.

If 10% of those guys who read here clue in to the realities of the pursuit of an FSUW I would count that as a success for RWD in general. Sure I would love to see it be a major influence on their thinking but then they would have to spend one heck of a lot more time thinking clearly AND taking a Looooong hard look at themselves and what issues they may have and what they need to work through and fix what is wrong in them before they consider writing the first letter or making a trip. It just ain't gonna happen because that would mean a serious reality check and too many just don't want it or don't recognize that it is needed.

Regarding posting style: I've said it before and I guess I'll be saying it again and again.

"If you cannot handle how jb posts then you will never be able to handle a FSUW."

It is just a fact of how this works.

All just my opinion of course and you can take or leave it as you please.

Anyway,,, all you newbies can get together and choke your chickens and lope your mules in unison as you view the MOB sites, but until you actually get in the mix, you don't know squat.

Trust me on that.

Sandro,

I made a decision to take a break from the RWD for a month.  The jackals had a field day at my expense when they thought I wouldn't be there to strike back.  These cowards are hiding in the bushes now.  Why?  Because they are "know nothings", always were, always will be.

Don't make the mistake of joining them.

JB,
it may have escaped your notice that I did not join the pack, either when you went AWL or later. I do not think I am doing that here, for that matter. This is supposed to be Nat's Ice-Breaker thread, after all, not the Coliseum, where fighting wild animals is "de riguer" with whatever weapon is handy ;).

JB is God, he was the first person on these multiple RW boards to make me realise 90% of the folks posting so eloquently and so authoritatively are actually mostly none-trip wonders who most likely live at home, are seeking another mother, where always the last to be picked at sports at school and have a trainset.

Believe me, I've met a few RW seekers on my travels and even here when word gets round....

Well, maybe not God, more like Sgt Bilko when most RW seekers are Colonel Hall......

Hi Nat and welcome to the board.
I deleted my previous post because it was irrelevant to your welcome thread. I am sorry to almost sabotage the thread.
JB  is a man of strong words and you have to accept this from him from day one. He will prove to be very knowledgeable and helpful from time to time. Most of the guys on the board no matter how mean they appear on the surface would help a fellow RWD member in need. This is like a family of guys who all love Russian women and some are learning the culture, some have been married for several years and some are starting fresh and need a little guidance.
I think jb is the Don Rickles of RWD.

Yes, I have been swimming around the bait a bit myself Jinx, but I guess it is dinner time.

I can understand exactly what Ken meant when he says if you can't handle jb you can't handle a RW,   however,  If all Russian women woke up tomorrow with jb's qualities I have a feeling the interest in RW would vanish immediately and the big market in international marriages would be Russian men who wanted to marry AW because they had suddenly become goddesses compared to what they had to put up with with a RW.

Personally I don't have a bit of problem handling jb's comments.  Doesn't mean I agree with the way he makes his points.
