Hey everyone, I've found this forum to be such a great wealth of information, I decided to join it. A quick bit about myself, I've written to many different women over time and have joined various dating websites. I'd say overall I've learned alot and what to look out for. Nearly all of them I suspected to be scammers or part of a team of different scammers.

I've only known one Russian lady here in the USA. And I've met several other women from Norway and Germany. I was impressed by all of them. I have only dated women from here in the states. But I never found the special one yet. My last girlfriend - I later found out was into drugs secretly hiding it from me. I must say I've had it with the women here and I'd like to start dating some women from other countries.

I thought to myself, what would be a great way to do this while experiencing many different cultures? I later discovered that some people go around the world teaching English as a foreign language. I decided to get a TEFL (Teaching English as Foreign Language) certification. While this will be a new career path, I'm prepared to try it out for a year at least. I'm hoping in the process, I can find a great lady. I don't expect to get married instantly, and have this magic thing called love happen. But if it does come my way, I'm open to the idea. There are a lot of great ladies all over the world including here in the USA. But for the type of lady I'm looking for my heart tells me to look abroad.

There are many different things aside from the obvious that attract me to foreign women. For example it is their culture difference, their education, and their accents that drive me crazy when they speak English.
You guys probably know what I mean.
Yes indeed there is a difference in the women from outside the United States.

I've found a job in Russia to teach there, so I hope things work out.
I only can speak a little bit of Russian so far, but I hope being exposed to it on a daily bases, I will begin to pick it up.
I understand the country has suffered a population decline over the years from many different reasons. The ratio of women to men is higher also.
At the moment, president Putin is trying to patch things up with the Ukraine in regards to economic relations. He has set aside money to assist a woman who have a 2nd child to take care of. And also recently he has zoned different regions of forest woodlands from being chopped down. And of course the pipeline deals between neighboring countries.
What does the future hold for this country? That I'm unsure of, but I hope things improve.

Welcome!  After living here in Ukraine I can tell you that after only a short time living in Russia you will have a whole new perspective on the world.  I was amazed to learn how much our information in the States is "filtered" and how people from different countries and cultures view world events.  Keep an open mind and a sense of humor and you will do just fine.

Thanks for the welcome, I understand a lot of what we hear about is filtered. I've never had any negative feelings towards any country around the world. I think being able to communicate effectively will lead to less misunderstandings. I'm sure after being there a while, I will have many great stories to tell as well. I'm excited about having the chance to live and work there and to meet many different people. It will be nice to experience living in a new culture.

Hi thanks for the welcome. Yes, as mentioned previously, we don't get the entire story of what really happens. But the great thing is the internet has helped greatly in relations between people from all over the world. Of course it is still not the same as actually being there of course, and seeing and hearing things in person. At the moment, I'm just another outsider looking in, but I hope to learn about how things operate. The Ukraine and Russia are currently trying to work out a pipeline deal from what I understand, and a new line will be built towards Finland eventually. I will take your advice about having a sense of humor about things and an open mind.  ;D

Welcome to RWD! How old are you? Where will you be teaching in Russia?
Where do you live now?

Thanks for the welcome, I'm 33 years old. I can only hope for the best and expect the worst about my situation while living and working in Russia.
I plan to return to see my family, but if I like it there, I might intend to stay longer.
Without going into great detail, I'm in a somewhat unique situation, but I have no ties or job here in the USA at the moment.
I'm a free man without a wife or any children.

The place I will be teaching at is a smaller school outside of Moscow and Saint Petersburg areas.
I'd rather not post the exact school name, but I appreciate the interest.
There are so many different schools scattered throughout the various regions. I decided to try the smaller town route and to experence the life there. I think this will be great for several different reasons, but the main thing I was thinking about is that the people might be more genuine since they probably rarely get outside visitors to the area.

And that they will give me the real Russian lifestyle.
I'm sure I can get this in a larger city also.
But for me and my first time out as a teacher, it will be easier for me instead of diving into a big city environment.
