University Classes for Ukrainian women.....
« on: January 20, 2007, 08:23:12 AM »
Does anyone know what the average Ukrainian woman pays for university classes per semester / quarter / year? My present girlfriend in Kharkov earns $100-$200 month, and she uses a large portion of her salary to pay for her university classes, and she has one year remaining to finish her bachelor degree. I always try to help her when reasonable and possible, and yes we have met in person. So what are the average costs? Also, is it common for FSU women to change jobs often, and also is it common for FSU employers to hit hard times and not pay their employees for time already worked? I appreciate any information anyone may have. Thanks.

Don't know about current university cost...but

Yes, FSU girls do change jobs often.  Of course, after she has her education she will find a better paying job and not change jobs so often.

Yes, FSU companies do sometimes miss payrolls.

If you want to PM me with the name of the university and the city, Vik can help with more answers.

Good luck.

The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.  michelangelo

The fee varies from University to university and course to course.
For some subjects scholarships are available or the girls work in the Deans office in their holidays to reduce the fee.
Fees in privet universities can be quite high.
In state universities the annual/semester fee may not be that high but to get into a popular course a bribe is needed that can be few thousand dollars (again depending on the subject)

The Labor Code of FSU is incomplete and doesn't protect the working-people enough. The change of jobs it is very frequent and everyday occurrence not only  among the women but man too. Sometimes employers don't want to conclude a labour contract with workers  on paper and don't want to pay workers after a dismissal from the job. To date the legal labor proceedings in Russia are an everyday occurrence too but not always successful for workers.

A common business practice here is to start someone out at a low wage and tell them that if they work very hard, after 3 months they will give them a nice raise.  Then after that time, they tell them that their work wasn't up to par, fire them and hire someone else who gets the same story.
