Layover in Moscow
« on: April 04, 2005, 12:36:39 AM »
Hi all.  Looks like I'm going to have an 11 hour layover in Moscow, landing at SVO 2 at 12:45pm and leaving from SVO 1 at 11:40pm.  I'm trying to figure out what to do with me, my carry on, and two pieces of luggage for those hours.

Looks like the hotel Novotel wants about $200 for a room - that seems like a lot for a few hours sleep.

Any suggestions?

Kevin

Looks like there is two of them, one on Lesnaya and one on Dmitrovskoye Shosse.  Rates appear to be $150+.  Which one, and whats the trick to a lower rate?

If you contact the Russian National Group based out of NYC and have them pre-arrange the Novotel for you it will be cheaper.  I believe you can get a half day for $99 through them.  By the time you arrive, get through customs, claim your luggage etc. time will be eaten up and you'll be tired.  Go over to the Novotel desk, talk to the guy or girl in English and they'll shuttle you to the Novotel.  Once int he hotel, pay for your room and pre-arrange the shuttle to SVO-1.  Tell them when your flight is to Omsk and they'll tell you when to get the shuttle bus.  Have a wake up call (plus set your alarm just in case), take a nice shower / get into a decent bed, sleep for six - eight hours - worth it, especially if you can get an inside rate - leave for SVO-1.  1-212-575-3431 - I hope they still have a deal for you.

They write they have booking online. Ask if you have more questions. But I think you can call directly to hotel. By the way, the site all-hotels opened new service of booking hot-rooms (when you take a room in last moment), it must be cheaper but may be not so sure.

Thanks!

I filled out their online reservation and received a notice they would get back to me in 48-72 hours with confirmation of availability...

Good enough!
