Getting a passport...

I noted at the post office that there are two services for passports: normal and expedited service. If I am not in a rush to get a passport yet, would the normal route be all right. Or is the expedited service a lot more reliable path?

Makes no difference. If there is no rush, save the money. All you are doing is paying more for the faster service.
