You know - this is one for Dan.  You must have a list of the married guys on the board.  So, how many are there anyway?

There is no "list" of married guys other than what the members know about each other or have mentioned here in the threads. Sorry Bruce.

Interesting how the numbers are comming out.  43 responses now and 36/47 married to a women from Russia or Ukraine eleven years or greater younger than them.  9/43 married a girl twenty years or more younger than themselves.  That is more than twenty percent of the guys married.

Yes, it is interesting Bruce and the results are a lot different than I would have expected.   Actually the most common age difference is in the 16 to 20 year range which would seem to shoot holes in the theory some have that you can not find happiness with a woman with more than 10 years difference.

Russia is still dominating the country part by a wide margin.  I would think if I were back in the searching stage when I see the bulk of the guys going to Ukraine to search and the bulk of the wives coming from Russia I would be doing some serious re-thinking about my hunting grounds.

Turbo,

The answer is simple..

At the time many of us got married the 'hassle' of getting visa was about the same for both countries.

Although I wasn't presented with a choice, since I already met my wife, but I might have considered RU as the 'real thing'..

Interesting thought though.. folks seem to gravitate towards the path of least resistance, obviously today this path leads to Ukraine.

BTW, did you vote?

I was around in those days when both were an equal hastle.   It is a valid point.

However there are other factors too, such as the population of Russia is two or three times that of Ukraine.   I do think this poll should give some indication that the extra hastle of the Russian Visa may be worth the bother.

Did I vote?   Well, actually since I am not married I should not vote, however either because in my mind I am married, just we have not had the formalities yet or because I did not read close enough that it was for marrieds, I did vote.   One of the three + 26 is me.  I guess I should remove my vote but I don't think it is that important one way or the other.

37/44 married to a FSU woman 11 years or younger than them.  We are getting a clear picture of married board members.  Any more marrieds out there please add yourselves to the list.  The inference is becomming powerful at least for our board.  I wonder how it compares with the rest (non-board) of the population of Westerners who have married FSU women?  I suspect it is par for the course, though 84% of the guys marrying girls from the FSU 11 years or younger is not the common advice one hears on the "age difference" threads.  I think it is time to start doing as we do as opposed to doing as we say......................or is it a vocal minority that comes to the forefront on those threads  ::)???

We probably know a dozen or more other AM/RW couples here in Corpus Christy and none of them are extremely wide age gaps.  I'd say all are in the 10-11 year grouping with some with a lot less than 10 years.   Most of these women are professionals with 3 of them are also college teachers like my wife, another took her MBA from Texas A&M University and now manages a department of engineers.  Several others are engaged in some business ventures, 2 are now licensed Real Estate agents and are doing quite well.  However, none are/were 21 y.o. hot chickibabes when they arrived in the USA.  Out of the entire group I know of only one marriage that ended and that was because of the man's alcohol problems, not through any fault of the RW.

Regarding the big age gap, I'd say offhand that we most often hear from a relatively small, but vocal group, who feel the need to justify their actions.

Bruce,

You do raise good points. I like some other married guys tend to suggest the exact opposite what of I did (17 year difference).

Why?

First of all, I never actively looked for a younger wife.  It was simply not my goal.. not even close.  Yes the circumstances I found myself in was and remains quite appealing and fulfilled some desires such as a last chance opportunity to have another child with reasonable expectations of being able to fulfill the fatherly role.

Secondly I would never use what I call 'artificial methods' (for lack of better words)to actively seek a spouse in the first place.  Natural chaos has provided quite well in the past and I think many seekers (not necessarily on this board) are seeking instant gratification. There was a thread a while back 'Would you recommend your best friend seek a RW?' http://www.russianwomendiscussion.com/index.php?topic=605.0  My thoughts on this has not changed over the years much at all.

Of course I realize that every red blooded male on the planet will turn their heads or at least glance at a beautiful young woman walking down the street, even fantasize a bit.  But quite honestly I think in the majority of cases they will enjoy the fantasy or a 'one nighter' much more than the experience of being married to one.

I have found over and over again that the things I want most are probably things I should not have or do not really need..  OTOH I am quite rewarded when nice things simply come my way without great effort in a natural fashion..

Yes there are some great examples of marriages that somehow seem to work well with large age differences but the general 'jist' from those experienced seems to be: 'Imitation is not recommended'.

Just my opin folks..

Well if in the unfortunate position of being married to one I guess the best thing to do is to take each night as a one nighter and enjoy it.I know it is a hard job but someone has to do it :)

Bruce, the poll is right, but your comments since very first page are not fit to the poll. The poll asked about the age difference in couple, then you make 100% probability conclusions that all who voted tell were marrying younger girls. If I married a guy who is younger than I am (let say, several months), may I vote?

Smartcat, unfortunately, it is a poll for guys.  It is tough to make a poll that is all things to everybody.  Sure, gals marry younger guys and yes American gals marry younger Russian guys as well.  I believe the numbers are small, but perhaps I am wrong.  I think it is great that American gals have to deal with the BCINS like the majority of the guys here do if they marry a man from abroad.  Perhaps one day the laws that are so biased against people marrying abroad in the USA will change because of loud perception that it is hurting the rights of women.
