A perfect Spring Day in Your Favourite City
« on: February 28, 2007, 10:14:32 PM »
How about a change of tempo?

I guess this thread is for those that have travelled to FSU and have good experiences to share.

I wonder if you would like to describe what your perfect spring day would be like in your favourite city?

I'll be back in Dnepr in spring so I especially hope to hear from those who know this city.

If you were with your girl on this perfect spring day what would you do?  Where would you go? Where would you eat?  What would you see?

Of course those that have good knowledge of other cities are more than welcome to reply.  I hope this is an opportunity for us all to share happy memories.   ;D

A perfect spring day in Kiev :
Do not stay in and put on your walking boots. If you are not someone used to a lot of walking, go to the Botanic Garden to enjoy the nature in all its variety. Do not forget the rosary to take some great pictures.
When you want some more excersize go and find the Outdoor Museum. You will be able to spend all day without ever seeing all it has to offer. It will show you the building and houses that are still in use in the villages, all put together in a big park.

A perfect spring day in Moscow:
VNDKH park. You will enjoy a well maintained park. And your girl will enjoy visiting the pavillions shopping for bargains.  ;D Take a big carrying bag with your walking boots.
Shashlick: find an open-air shashlick party with some friends. You will enjoy watching the people.
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Shadow,

I read about the Outdoor Museum but didn't get to go there on my trip because it was the middle of winter.  It's definitely on the agenda for my Spring Trip.

If you are talking about the park out near the Cosmos which I believe is the VDHK park it has been closed and bulldozed.  Sorry to see it go.  It was one of my favorite places in Moscow.

Ah,,, a perfect spring day around Moscow would prolly snow on me,,, maybe a late spring day would be a stroll along the 250 y.o. bridal paths at Voronova, to commune with the ghosts who inhabit those woods from Ekaterina the Greats era, to wonder what Count/General Sheremetyevo was thinking about when he built that beautiful estate that I have come to love so much.

And mostly,,, wonder if they will serve caviar at afternoon tea or not...
