Speaking of Guides
« on: March 01, 2007, 07:48:05 AM »
I was wondering if there would be a market in the US for guides or for someone to book reservations for non English speaking people and to provide transportation to and from airports.

I think I would like this type of work and my wife could help as interpreter.

From what I have seen of husband and wife teams, it is usually a translation service or flower delivery. I have never seen an American guide but I see those people at airports holding up name tags. A private transportation service might be a possibility.

Turbo, Viking and I had discussed this one time. I'm not even sure if it would be a profitible venture. I just want a small job to supplement my retirement if I do retire in the next few years.

If you master the Russian language to ask for the road where you have to transport the people to it could be a nice job.
Although I think that the driving experience of a native driver is something that you should not withold any guy visiting. The last guy who brought us to the airport was the boyfriend of a friend... professional racing driver and not afraid to show it  :hairraising:
No it is not a dog. Its really how I look.  ;)

Actually, we have stricter speed limit laws in the US but people still like to challenge them. My Honda Civic is not one of the speedy cars.

I work as a guide here in Ukraine. Im from britain and thought about doing it back in my home country, especially for Russian tourists. It has potential, but then unlike ukraine there is an endless amount of useful readily- available information in britain and on the internet about britain, and travelling within the country is intrinsically much more easy and hassle free. Thats one of the reasons why i decided to carry on doing it here..the other being that i absolutely love it here and feel very lucky to have the chance to live in ukraine!
Assistant and guide for guys who travel to Ukraine. I am from Britain but live in Crimea, Ukraine. I also run the tourist service operator in Crimea, Ukraine, at: http://www.accesscrimea.com
