Girl I met in Kiev still wears a wedding ring on her her right hand which seems to be the tradition in Ukraine (she 's is divorced). I thought nothing of it till I got home then realised it was opposite hand to the uk.
However I have been checking some of the dating sites and quite a few women also have rings on that finger so I am a bit confused, any one know the answer?
Should I be concerned? ???

That's probably something for you two to work out.  I assume you are still in contact?

Yes Bc still in contact. I did ask and she said it wasn't a wedding ring. I doubt anyone would be that brazen to wear one, but who knows, just wondered if anyone knew of the customs regarding rings

Any particular reason to doubt her?

Re: custom, my wife and I wear out wedding bands on the right hand, pretty much per FSU 'norm'.

Tradition is wearing wedding ring at left hand in a case of divorce

( Though I know some women-widdows in past and married again who wear two wedding rings on right hand now Truth tell I have not idea is it "tradition" or their own decision

And btw are you sure you saw exactly WEDDING ring?

If it was just a ring it meant nothing Wedding ring is that simple gold ring without any "decoration"

BC I have no reason to doubt her really.
Thanks Elen, Actually I don't know if it was a  weddding ring as such, I thought that finger was reserved just for wedding rings. I assume I am mistaken.

No all 10 fingers are avalable for "common" ring. So you have a lot of opportunities to decorate your girl with rings  ;D

Thanks BC,
I enjoyed the trip very much, although it was the coldest place I have ever been.

Then we know you've never been to Canada! ;D
Welcome to RWD!
Wedding rings here are just a plain gold band, sometimes like my wife, they will where the gold band & the engagement ring together on the right hand. Some if widowed will continue to where the wedding ring out of respect but never if divorced that I have seen. Then it goes on the left hand.
But as Elen said all fingers are available for regular rings so you can adorne your honey in gold & diamonds, a girls two best friends! ;)

Why just not ask her directly?

Zhena

Of course he can. We all know that. :)

But....sometimes the answers are a bit devious? I once asked an RW ( who was truly divorced) about a gold ring she was wearing.

Question: Why do you wear that ring?
Answer: Because I can.
Question: But why do you wear it?
Answer: I like rings.

Tom Hanks in Castaway: You never know what the tide may bring in.
Viking: But you still need to walk along the beach to find it.

The next question might be-why on the right hand instead of left? ;)
