Last marriage didn't work out so well. Ex cheated and is out. There's a whole story to that but it would take too long to write. I've been dating around but haven't really seem to find anyone compatible. I think that maybe finding foreign potentials would be a good way to go. Usually they would have different values and outlook than the average American female. I would look for foreign people here in the US but I don't live in a very culturally diverse area so it would be pretty hard for me to do so. Any way, I'm just exploring the possibilities that are out there.

I'm just a regular guy with a decent enough job so I'm not even sure if I would be able to handle the expenses that this might involve. I'm just a newbie so I'm sure I'll find out sooner or later after some research.

Is there any other way to meet singles internationally other than through agencies?

 There are free sites which have been listed by others, I never used them, but I believe that most of them are in Russian so if you cannot read the language you will have some issues getting a proper understanding of what is being said. Of course, you can use translator programs but they can give you more problems depending on how you use them.

 You can also just go there on a tour (not a meet girls tour but a tourist tour) and meet girls naturally, there are other forums for learning the language where you can meet people though I don't know about how many single ladies are there.

 Anyway, read a lot here, read the FAQs, ask questions and you'll learn more than you probably ever wanted to know about this process and adventure.

Welcome to RWD.  Read the FAQ's section as there is a detailed report on how much this venture will cost.  Keep in mind that the expenses are over the time it takes to find someone and not necessarily all at once.  This is not a "quick fix" either.  It takes time.

There are a lot of pro and cons with using agencies or going the independent route.  It all depends upon how you want to proceed.  At this point, just keep an open mind and read, read, read.  There is a wealth of information here and I am sure that you can learn a great deal about the many methods that others have used.  Good luck.

Lately it looks to be full of scammers.

I would suggest you start with www.freepersonals.ru and go from there.   It is free and you can get a feel for it.   If that works then I would look hard at a platinum membership in Elena's Models.

Neco...  As others have said to you the best place to start is by reading old posts and the FAQ Section.  Also it's very important to read the 10 Commandments (RWD Version.. not the Bible this time) and always remember them!

Of course you can ask any of your own questions when they arise.

You'll get to a point where you want to plan a trip and it's important before you travel that you plan how you'll meet ladies and which approach is best for you... Again you'll get good advice from members here.

I'd say the most important thing early on is to not believe the propaganda you'll read on the dating sites and keep an open mind before travelling.

It's a great journey and happiness IS possible but there are many things to be careful of on the way.

The advantage to Elena's over FreePersonals is that you will get a higher percentage of return.   Because it is free, if a really desirable woman posts there she may get 500 letters the first day.  It is easy to get lost in the numbers.   I am not saying gals in Elena's don't get tons of e-mail they do.  I just found the results were better at Elena's.

Ahhh, kickback, hummmm,   possibly that word could get me in trouble but my "kickback" from Elena's is sitting beside me in my avatar.

LOL,  I see your point but I was more thinking along the lines of if he is getting responses and finds himself serious enough about finding a good RW to want to spend some money. 

Personally I found some very nice ladies on FreePersonals but I found I got a lower response rate than at Elena's and they would drop out of sight faster.   I think they just had too much correspondence going on.

Robbie go to the scammers and supected agency's section and read the thread named  BEST OF INTENTIONS - WORST OF INTENTIONS, it will give you a good idea of what could happen to you if your not careful!!!!  also look up in the same section the thread about GCG's make sure you know what a GCG is before you continue you quest for a Russian wife!!!  just for your information GCG = green card girl.

I disagree.  The difference just in communicating with women not associated with an agency or website is night and day compared to the girls that use an agency. 

There is a disadvantage.  The woman who has not applied to an agency needs to be convinced to leave her country much more so than the woman who applied at one or more agencies. 

I found my ladyfriend from a Russian web site.  I translated the web site into English and wrote letters translated into Russian. 

Before my first trip to Russia, I had a bad experience in writing to a woman who turned out to be from an agency.  I didn't know the agency was writing her letters until three months of correspondence.  I had planned to book a flight to see this woman but I wanted to talk to her by telephone first. (That's how I found out about the agency.) After that experience combined with the many forum posts about agencies, I decided I was going to find someone without an agency hell or high water. 

Regarding newspaper ads...you don't need presence on the ground.  If I ever decided to find someone else, (I won't) then I would create a web site with my profile, pictures, etc and a yahoo type email address.  Then I would use the ad to send interested ladies to my website.

Agencies might look at ads in the Moscow Times, but most agencies make their money from address purchases.  They don't have feet on the ground in these provincial cities, either.  In fact, many of the cities reached by newspaper are far off the beaten path.  There's a disadvantage in this also, in that it may be difficult to travel to her city or her city may even be closed to foreigners.  But there's no doubt that newspaper ads reach much deeper than agencies.
