What of course the Author conveniently avoided saying is that the country is corrupt from Top to botton and you find corruption everywhere you go.

He is talking about a good welcome from the locals but I can assure you that if you don't speak any Russian you will find total indifference and in some cases bad reception or they will completely ignore you.

I am afraid the country is 20-30 years backwards from any normal EU country, in everything.

Despite saying all that I still find Russia an interesting place to visit but not to live there.
