Taxes
« on: April 06, 2007, 04:37:06 PM »
I was doing my taxes here in the US, and I noticed my tax software asked if I had any foreign income.  I became curious.

I am not married to a RW, but if I was, would I have to report her income she earned in her native country before she immigrated on my US tax form?  Does she still have to prepare what ever income tax form for her native country requires, at least for the year she immigrated?

     Just curious.

William,

  How does it depend?

On the tax laws of her country and whether she feels like it. I am not aware of any woman who has worried about it over the years.

1. No
2. Most likely, And especially so if she owns property.  Natalia filed her 'tax report' for last year, just before arriving in February.  Russia gives a tax exemption if you buy a flat and she was submitting the documentation for this.
