Doudis - pretty darn fast ie. you meet the girl, do a K-1 and want babies as soon as you get her here???   My advice is to proceed with a bit more caution.  Best of luck.

Well close, actually I would like a year to enjoy for ourselves before we make the huge commitment to having babies, but like I said I am ready when she is. I have no fear. I'm a firm believer int the credo "Nothing ventured nothing gained." So if i want something I go for it! Now! I'm a risk taker. Sometimes it backfires, but more oft then not it has worked out to my advantage. So Bruce I do appreciate the advice, but I have to be me right?

Have a great Day!

Always be yourself and be comfortable doing so Doug.

My lady comes with a darling 10 y.o. daughter, but she really does want to start "our" family immediately.  OK with me, I'm not getting any younger (46, 47 in late November).

What I meant to say is that it seems that you want to lower the amount of child support you pay for your own children, yet will be taking on the responsibility of your fiancee-s children.

Do you see what I am getting at here?

Ah, thats clearer, but still a mis-understanding.  I want to lower the amount of Alimony I pay.  I'm fine with the child support payments.

Just an update: received electronic notification that our application was accepted today (NOA2).

OK, I'm confused.

On 8/18 I received an e-mail that said "Your application has been sent to the Dept. of State for Visa Processing", what I presumed was my NOA2.  e.g. Nebraska was complete.

On 9/1 I received an e-mail that said "Your case has been approved".

Does the 9/1 message mean the NVC is done?

The letter I got said that my case was approved and being sent to the embassy in moscow and had been assigned the following case number mos2005??????

I am a little confused by what you got too Goombah.  That sounds more like it has been sent to the NVC for processing.   That usually does not take too long so unless they have to do a background check your next notice should be along shortly.

PS.  When the NVC finishes it what you get is more of a letter than a form if that helps you sort them out.

Thanks what I was expecting, but there was no mention of an MOS number.  This almost felt like somebody in Nebraska sending a follow-up note two weeks later...

Hopefully the hard copy letter will be more descriptive.

I think the NVC only kept us there about 2 weeks.   They say if you haven't heard anything in 4 weeks to contact them.   It won't be long.  Moscow is backed up though.

Well... I got the hardcopy notification in the paper mail today.  It is an exact duplicate of the notification I received on two weeks ago accept that its dated 8/31/05 and the original was dated 8/15/05.

One thing I did notice:  Both are valid from 8/15/05 to 12/15/05.  Does that imply this will be over before 12/15/05???

No, it just means they will try to get it done within those time constraints, if they don't, they will simply extent the time limits to fit into their schedule.  You will not have to re-apply for a visa.

Don't worry,,, it is basically a done deal at this point. You don't have to do anything on your part to get it done.  Your K-1 will go to interview and will be approved in good order.  You have less to worry about than some others here on the board.

You are in good shape here.

Status update:  Received the letter with my MOS case number on it from the National Visa Center today.  So it either took 3 weeks or 1 week, depending on when it REALLY left Nebraska...

Now that I have a MOS number, is there a website I can track the progress on?  I checked the USCIS site and it only references the LIN number - which, BTW, it claims was approved on 8/31.  Guess the 8/15 letter I have is just a figment of my imagination.

Kevin,  The website for tracking the progress is great except for one thing.   You will have packet 3 from the embassy with the interview date long before it is on the website unless things have changed in the past few months.

Great... <smirk>  Thanks for the heads-up though.

I did spot MOS20057xx numbers that were interviewing this month, and others that were interviewing in December.  I think the best September one was like 25 days ago.  Does this reflect the speed people return the checklist, or sheer luck with some filling in cancelled interview slots?

No, this list is inclusive of all visa applications, a huge percentage are for other types of visas, and visa renewals.
