Yeltzin died

When they came for the trade unionists, I did not speak out; I was not a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews, I didn’t speak up, because I wasn't a Jew. When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.

My ex-fiancee liked the man, even with his vices and corruptions.

He stood his ground before the communist hardliners (although he did have a little help, some organization called the Soviet military  ;D).

Yeltsin was a key player in indirectly making it possible to meet and marry RW.

He was 76?  That is old for a Russian man, particularly a man who relished his alcohol.

I suppose the pro-Soviet crowd still dislike the man.

I am sorry to hear this.

I personally liked Boris Yeltsin. I was in Russia, and Moscow, in 1996 when Russia had it's first democratic election. It was quite inspiring to see.

I indirectly got to know a lot about Boris. Yeltsin's health was not the best. While he was president one of his three doctors was ALWAYS close by. Boris had three doctors and they took 8 hour shifts. No matter where Boris was, at home or traveling, their was always one of three doctors not far away. Out of sight, but not far away.

For some time I dated this one woman in Moscow named Elena. Elena's mother was one of three of Boris Yeltsin's doctors. During one stay of a few weeks in Moscow I stayed with Elena and her mom and everyday at about 8am this big black car would pull up to mom's flat and would take mom to the Kremlin or wherever Boris was that day.

The stories mom told were quite entertaining and Boris really loved his vodka.

I think I will try to call Elena and mom now and offer my condolences.

Boris was a cool guy.
