This is probably as good as it get's in digital.... Unless you want to spend the really big bucks for professional gear.

However, 6.1 Megapixel only has the resolving power of about ASA/1000 35MM film, without the speed.

The "eye" you refer to is purchased with sweat and years of practice.

Looks like your message board is finally coming alive.  Great format, way easier to navigate through and it appears there aren't any flaming going on.  (LOL).

What I'd like to see is some detail trip reports from guys.

My 20D is reportedly able to produce some extraordinary images - though I've quickly discovered the art of photography is in the 'eye' of the photographer - not the equipment he/she uses. Sure wish I could buy one of those somewhere.
