Question for those Computer Knowledgeable
« on: May 01, 2005, 05:20:34 PM »
How can we get a printout of the URLS that are in our Explorer "Favorites" file??

I have a ton of favorites saved, and just click on them to go direct to the URL.

We don't actual see the underlying URLs, but rather only the logos or whatever.

But, now I would like to print out the actual URLs so that I can carry with me to use at Internet Cafes when I am on the road.

I have copied the Favorites file to a CD, but I would still rather also have a hardcopy printout to use when a CD reader is not available at Cafe.   Plus many such places will not allow you to put in a CD or Floppy anyway.

Sure, I know how to do it the long way of clicking on each favorite in turn, have the URL pop up when I reach the site, then copy and paste this URL into a file to print out.  But surely there must be a quicker way than this several hour procedure where a whole sheet load of favorties are involved.

So anyone can tell me how I can get a printout of the list of URLs??  Also, some of the favorites are within named folders, so that might be an additional complication.

Thanks

I received several replies from various message boards.  Some of the suggested methods:
a) I was afraid to try.
b) Some I couldn't understand what was being said.
c) Some looked to be too time consuming for limited time I had left.
d) Some I tried without success.

But I give five star rating to 'mountainhiker' who posts on RWL
for the following method.  I performed the procedure in about 5
minutes, then checked my e-mail that I had sent to a couple of
accounts, clicked on the favorites, and 'za zoom' I was instantly
at the website I wanted.  So now I can access the websites for any
of my 'Favorites' from anywhere in the world that I can access my
e-mail.

WOW, are these message boards great for all types of info, or what??

Thanks to all, and a special hug and kiss to 'mountaineer.'
After this brief lapse, I now return to hetrosexual status.

Do the following steps:

1) File | Import and Export
2) Follow the prompts and export "Favorites"
3) Export to a file called "bookmark.htm"
4) Email your "bookmark.htm" to yourself at your yahoo account
5) When traveling, simply open up your yahoo mail account (gmail, hotmail, whatever), and double click your "bookmark.htm" attachment.  It will open as a web page with ALL your links clearly visible.
6) Clink the link of interest, and you're set.

Fast, easy, and efficient.

guess you could save bookmark.htm to one of those data storage keys and have your fav links on your keychain.  Might be nice for someone using inet cafe's a lot.
