Has anyone dealt with the Warsaw Embassy??

Hi All,

Kate and I are meeting in Warsaw next Friday to complete her fiance visa at the Warsaw embassy.  (Belarus doesn't have a full service embassy, so fiance visas are handled through Warsaw.)

Anyway, I've read over the description of the process on-line, and it seems very cut and dried.  You come in the morning, they decide over lunch, and you can pick up the visa in the afternoon.  Is there anything that I should watch out for?  Are there any potential hurdles/challenges?  Is there any advice that you would like to give me?

My wife and I went through the Warsaw Embassy in 2002.

Our experience was very good.  If you are an American citizen who is marrying a foreign lady then you can just pretty much go right to the front of the line.

When you get to the embassy you will see a long line of people but when they find out you are American they will take you and your fiancee right in.  Once inside you will have to submit your paperwork and this will take some time.  After some time you will have to pay for and receive a reciept that you will want to hang on to.  then you will move to another line and your fiancee will have an interview at a window with either an english speaker or his interpreter to be asked some simple questions.

After we were done with all that they told us to come back tomorrow to pick up the visa. 

The next day we came to the Embassy and waited in front of what looked like a ticket window at a movie theater and they handed us her visa through the window and we were free to go.

We were in Warsaw in January and even though it was cold, it was just gorgeous.  We both have fond memories of Warsaw and our experience there.

We were there in Dec 2003. We actually stayed in the Praga district. I cant remember the name of the hotel,but it was great and not to expensive. I can probably find it if you need it. Be sure and take a trip by train to Krakow and then go out to see Aushwitz. It should be the most moving experence you've ever had unless you've been to Arlington Cemetary or Normandy Beach.  You certainly will not ever forget it. You should have an empty train iu the morning,but the evening train was full.
