Victory Day in Russia

I was told that the "ever well informed" Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes had declared that VE-Day was celebrated on May 7th & 8th contrary to practice here in Perm and in Moscow.  I can't help but wonder if he has told 180 million russians they are celebrating on the wrong day!

The VE celebration was definitely very Stalinesque and by design I am told.  The celebration here in Perm was likewise like something that might have been seen in the 60's or 70's.  The biggest difference here was probably that there were only a few military units and weapons.  I think the celebrations will get even less militaristic as the years pass.  I think it was a hell of a lot better than anything we got from 'Nam.

I didn't get to see Andy Rooney (mom called :?) but I was happy to see Putin "holding his own" against Mike Wallace at the open of the show.  Ole Vladamere is one smoothe brudda IMHO.

Every well informed man does know how our dear allies tried to singn German's capitulation without Russians at May,7, but had to repeat that procedure in our present at May 8 (in Moscow there was already May 9, and there were still blood fight in Prague where one of my grand- father's brother was killed right at May 9)
