I would give http://www.ukrainebride.net/ a chance if I ever passed through again. They have a business center you can use to access the internet, of course for a charge. I think it worked out to be something like $10 a hour. The ladies working inside are cuties who I should have focused on. I did not meet any of the catalog ladies through this agency since i was there for one specific lady through another agency. But it was one of those scenerios where you felt like I used the wrong agency when comparing services.

In August of 2003 I had some dealings with the owner who also sells "memberships"
to a website called "Russian Thongs"??  I had pre-paid for some contact info and translation services for his dating agency and had great problems in getting a partial refund back (guess I'm lucky to get something).  Also, this guy runs and investment service in Odessa for purchasing RE in partnerships in Ukraine.

I cannot comment on either website (thong or Real Estate) - but the owner is out of Richmond, Virginia - I do have his name, but won't post.  If you need add'l info, pls contact offline.

I think your trying to say in a polite way what I don't mind saying, this agency you are referring to is scam.

hey srsol, by the looks of your photo I would say you could have your choice of just about any Russian/Ukraine woman who was looking for a foreign husband.  Are you still looking for a fine and beautiful Russian/Ukraine bride or did you decide to try south of the border?

If your still looking I have a spot reserved for you in September.

Jack, in a nice 'way' I don't think that looks make or break a deal.....good looks don't afford anyone to have just about anyone that they desire.......Owner of above 'mentioned' site, is from Boston.... Oh...'FORGOT' to give an example......Paris H.... Who want's her for a Best Friend/Wife ???......Or should I ask....who want's her for 1 night :P........ Good looking on the outside...yes.... on the inside ..... ???

He certainly keeps a low (non existant really) profile in Richmond. I lived there for about 12 years and never heard of any FSUW connection in Richmond.

Yeah sounds like the most expensive internet in FSU, still you get to have a go at the cuties hehehe

I was so desperate to find a connection I would have paid $100 a hour. My translator knew of no other place, and quite honesty she didn't even make me aware of this place since my guess is she was scared I was going to replace her with someone there.

If you are in Odessa and need a variety of apartments to use along with a desperate need for the internet, that agency would be my choice to use. I was sitting in a $80 a night apartment charged by an affiliant of an "honest agency" in which accross the street is the hangout spot for around 25-35 wild dogs that do nothing but bark all night long, and then you have the sudden gush of water that comes out of the ceiling into the bathroom which has a drip that seemed to never stop all-night long, so yes you can see why anything else seems better to me. Also my phone as disconnected.........

I can't vouch for the catalog ladies. I did see a few american guys there, surprisingly very young guys like myself who seemed to be doing well with their ladies. But this was only after a brief introduction and a several minutes of socializing.

Right now I am fed up with agencies with their only usefullness to provide an apartment, translating or touring services if they are competitive in prices.

I will go to Odessa in July and have planed to stay for 2 weeks.
I will meet one girl from a dating site but i will most of the time try to meet "normal" people.
A friend of me from Norway have done the same and he really recommended me to try it out.
Like he say "those girls in the dating sites live the American dream and is nothing to be serious with".
I will make my own opinion about the people i meet and not listen to his words about the dating site girls.
But he does have a point in what he say.
A very HIGH procent of the girls only want money.
I have met one that i thought was a nice girl but i got me a very good lesson.
And since i have read the threads here i know what to look for in her behavior to spot the difference if she like me for me or is in it for the money.

Sort,

In a way I found it easier to identify the genuine girls than I did at home.  At home You can date hundreds of girls and never really hear the agenda unless their bodyclock is ticking and they're on the hunt for "the future father of their children"...  When using dating sites youu'll hear a lot of bull but I found it easy to identify the scammers.

Maybe it was my approach... maybe it was blind luck.  I DO think one of the important factors for my success was writing to girls and right from the very beginning telling them the date I would arrive in Ukraine.  A few scammers came right out and made themselves obvious by insisting on meeting in a foreign country...

"Send me the money for the ticket... blah blah blah".  That was great in my mind.  I appreciated their crude attempt at a scam.

Others just didn't answer my questions appropriately.  I tried to remain logical in my search, to the point of writing down my "Key Selection Criteria" before I started and anyone that didn't meet that were struck off without regret.

Don't worry... at times I doubted I would be travelling with ANY pre-arranged dates but out of 40 girls I actively wrote to 3 remained as genuine prospects... One didn't eventuate because she knew I was meetings others... and my favourite turned out to be perfect for me when we met on my first day in Kiev.

I wouldn't discount the agencies if I were you.  You need to be active and just stick by some basic rules.

I reckon there's lots of guys that will criticise agencies or the whole concept of finding a FSUW because they failed, were scammed or didn't meet "the one".  It's easier to blame someone else (Agencies, the girls, etc) rather than taking a realistic look at your own behaviour.

When I was in Kiev I met SEVERAL men who I knew would fail.  They were clearly under-prepared.  RWD is the best place for you to prepare and if you're committed and sensible you CAN find what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Kuna

I'm not worried about the one i will meet or any agency in Odessa.
My first tripp to Odessa was a disappointment because she only wanted me to shop for her.
This time i will go as i am and take it as it comes.

The woman i will meet have not asked me for money or things.
She want to meet me and i want to meet her.
What ever happens then is just what ever happen.
If we do not match it's fine for me.
I have Odessa for my self  he he.

Ken

I lived in Richmond in 2002-2003 and when I met him in Odessa I found out he pretty much stays there and only returns to Richmond for a week or two every year.  As I said in my post I didn't really care for him-reminded me of a used car salesman.  He has (or had-not sure if still married) the perfect Barbie trophy wife he loved to show off to his clients. I will say though she did keep that office running  and kept all of the staff in line.

Not my cup of coffee, but each to their own :noidea:

I see it didn't take you long to decide it was not the place you wanted to live long term... :D

That was the same Barbie doll that charged me $ 60 bucks for 1 date back in 2005,, although my date probably got $10 of it.

Actually I liked Richmond alot, the only reason I moved was because I was promoted.  It was only a couple of hours to D.C and all kinds of historical things to see in the area, plus all kinds of interesting people.  My favorite hang out was a coffee shop named "the crossroads" across the street from the park (Don't remember the park, but it I remember crossing a bridge to get into the downtown area and I remember a medical school right down the street.

I would definitely move back if given the chance.

It is a wonderful historic area. I guess because I was born in Williamsburg and lived in the Richmond area from 1991 until last fall I was pretty tired of the place. Might have been Bryan park which is near downtown that you liked. There are a few decent ones there.

2 hours to DC? Last time we went it took us 4 1/2 hours to get home from there because of the traffic! I know people that live 10 miles from their work and it takes them over an hour to get there. Not anything I would ever want to deal with.
